Netflix’s Virgin River is one of its most-watched series on the streaming platform. Based on the novels by Robyn Carr, Virgin River follows town newcomer, Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge). Mel is a nurse/midwife from Los Angeles who relocates to Virgin River following a devastating set of personal tragedies. As she’s healing her broken heart, Mel falls for retired Marine and bar owner, Jack Sheridan (Martin Sheridan).

Initially, the pair are just friends. However, Jack’s first big gesture for Mel is to fix up a once-crumbling cabin and make it a beautiful home. But where is the cabin located?

Is ‘Virgin River’ based on a true story?

All of the characters in Virgin River are fictional. “I have to remind them that it only exists in our hearts and minds,” Carr told Entertainment Weekly. However, the best-selling author always reminds people that we can all aspire to be community-minded like the people in her books and on the show.

“We can have that sense of community in our own neighborhood or school or church group or community center or library association,” she said. “All we have to do is try to create it. We create it by being helpful neighbors and good friends and positive people.”

Where is Mel’s cabin located?

Though the town is fictional and all of the characters were dreamed up in Carr’s imagination, Mel’s cabin is very real. The cabin is located in Murdo Frazer Park in British Columbia, Canada where the series is shot. Fans of the series are more than welcome to visit the stunning park and explore all of the picturesque parts of it.

However, Mel’s cabin which was built in 1950 is located on private property. Though Netflix has gotten permission to film the cabin, the caretaker to Murdo Frazer Park still lives there.
