‘Virgin River’: Will the Release Date for Season 4 Be Pushed Back?
Virgin River fans are already eager for new episodes, even though it’s barely been a month since the third season of the drama series hit Netflix. The series, which is based on the book saga by Robyn Carr, centers on Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse who leaves her life behind in Los Angeles for a fresh start in Virgin River.
Amid dealing with the shenanigans of the town’s residents, Mel falls for the town’s bar owner, Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), who is also a former Marine. With so many revelations in Virgin River Season 3, fans are desperately waiting for the fourth season, but it could be delayed.
‘Virgin River’ Season 4 may already be filming
While Netflix has not released an official renewal announcement for the forthcoming season of Virgin River, there are rumors that it’s already underway as of July 2021. “Well, Netflix is quite quiet about all that [production updates] – I just hesitate to say anything that they might get upset [about],” Tim Matheson who portrays Doc Mullins on the show told Radio Times via Hello! Magazine. “My understanding is that it will be like any day now.”
To that end, SpoilerTV reported via Express, that Virgin River Season 4 filming will end in November 2021 and they are already filming in Vancouver.
Will ‘Virgin River’ Season 4 be delayed?
Though Matheson has hinted at the new season already being in production, amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there is some concern that things might be delayed. If the new season concludes filming in November 2021, ahead of the holidays, Netflix Life is reporting that it’s likely a new season will drop in May 2022.
However, if things go awry for some reason, there might be a major delay. Typically, Netflix waits about six months after the end of production to release a new season, this would be May. However, if things don’t go as planned Virgin River Season 4 could be delayed until August 2022.
Since the series is one of the streaming service’s biggest hits, we think they are going to do everything in their power to keep it on track.
The biggest questions that need answers in ‘Virgin River’ Season 4
The third season of Virgin River concluded with a ton of shocking revelations. Doc (Tim Matheson) apparently has a grandson that he knows nothing about, which means he also has a child he never knew. Hope (Annette O’Toole) is fighting for her life after a horrific car crash. Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) has been arrested for shooting Jack, even though we’re certain he didn’t.
Ricky (Grayson Gurnsey) has enlisted in the Marines, Preacher (Collin Lawrence) has been lured to his death leaving Connie (Nicola Cavendish) and Christopher (Chase Petriw) vulnerable, and that hasn’t even touched on the drama that Mel and Jack are dealing with. Jack is going to have to battle for custody for his twins against Charmaine (Lauren Hammersly) and her new husband Todd (Patrick Sabongui) and Mel has revealed she’s pregnant but she’s unsure if Jack is the father.
With so much at stake, we’re hoping we won’t have to wait long for Virgin River to return to Netflix with new episodes.
