‘Walker’ Season 2: Micki Ramirez Has a Dangerous New Mission, Lindsey Morgan Says
The season finale of Walker on The CW whetted fans’ appetite for season 2. It’s going to be a long wait until Oct. 28, but Showbiz Cheat Sheet has something to tide you over. Lindsey Morgan, who plays Micki Ramirez on Walker, previewed Micki’s upcoming story for season 2. Morgan spoke with Showbiz Cheat Sheet on Aug. 10 and is getting ready to begin filming before the end of the summer.
Micki Ramirez has a new mission in ‘Walker’ Season 2
Micki was a new Texas Ranger in season 1. She was partnered with Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki) and still had to prove herself against prejudiced beliefs of her superiors. Morgan said Micki may undertake an undercover mission in season 2.
“Of course, she can’t tell Walker,” Morgan said. “She can barely tell [her fiance] Trey. So I’m really curious to see how it’s going to affect her relationships with Walker and with Trey and with the people in her life.”
‘Walker’ Season 2 could drastically change Micki Ramirez
In season 1, Micki has been a frequent reminder for Walker to follow the rules. Walker can get emotional seeking answers about his wife’s murder and that sometimes makes him cross the line. Now, Micki may find herself in situations where the rules don’t always apply.
“The interesting thing is we saw what happened when Walker went undercover, how much he really lost himself and how much it affected his family and friends and his true life, his identity,” Morgan said. “So I’m really curious to see how Micki is able to grapple with this new world. I think it’s one thing to talk the talk but you’ve got to walk the walk. When you are undercover, your life is really on the line at all times. You don’t want to blow the case and who knows what kind of company she’ll be in so it’ll be interesting to see what happens when her moral compass is pressured and is cornered in a sense.”
Micki Ramirez may have to let go of her mother
The season finale also saw Micki attempt to make amends with her mother, Mercedes (Leticia Jimenez). However, Mercedes didn’t show up to Micki’s brunch. Morgan speculated on how Micki might react to the empty chair Mercedes left.
“I think that empty chair for Micki means the next chapter,” Morgan said. “She’s found this really amazing place of where she’s doing great in her job, great as a Ranger. She really met a lot of her goals that she set out to do and now she’s kind of being promoted by getting to go undercover. So it’s a big deal to her.”
Micki’s new season 2 mission will necessarily add to her plate. She might not have room to reconnect with Mercedes.
“Also she’s found this really beautiful balance in her family life,” Morgan said. “She works so hard on her relationship with Trey and now the relationship with both her moms. So the fact that I think she’s torn. Her future is undercover but that’s going to affect her family life and affect her love life and affect her relationships at home, so she’s really torn between do I continue this journey that can be lonely and very secretive, and leave everything I worked for behind? Or do I find a way to combine them both but then I may jeopardize their safety? I’d say she’s unsure about the future, the next chapter.”
