‘WandaVision’ Star Kathryn Hahn Reveals She Didn’t Know the Title of the Spinoff Until Disney’s Announcement
After starring in WandaVision, Kathryn Hahn seems to be a pro at keeping all of Marvel’s secrets. Or, the powers that be truly do not tell her everything, especially when it comes to her own show. Hahn will reprise her role as Agatha Harkness in an upcoming Disney+ series, but she only recently learned its title.
Kathryn Hahn is reprising her role as Agatha Harkness in a ‘WandaVision’ spinoff
After taking into account the success of WandaVision and the popularity of Kathryn Hahn’s character, Agatha Harkness, Disney and Marvel Studios ordered a spinoff centered around the evil witch.
The series hails from WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer. Schaeffer will write and executive produce the spinoff, Agatha: House of Harkness. After the success of WandaVision, Schaeffer signed an overall deal with Marvel and 20th Century Television in May 2021. This spinoff will be the first project under her new agreement.
The press release announcing Agatha: House of Harkness revealed that the series would be a dark comedy. And since WandaVision‘s “Agatha All Along,” sung by Kathryn Hahn, was just nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media, we hope that the spinoff is a musical as well.
Kathryn Hahn learned the name of the ‘WandaVision’ spinoff with the rest of the world
Kathryn Hahn appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she discussed the WandaVision spinoff and revealed that she knows very little about the series.
“I didn’t even know the title of the show until it was released to the public,” Hahn said. “Like, they keep it so tight.”
Barrymore asked Hahn about Mephisto, a Marvel comic book character many fans believed would appear in WandaVision. However, the actor denied knowing anything about Mephisto being in the spinoff.
“I keep hearing that. I have no idea. That was a big thing during WandaVision. But, I have no idea, who knows?” Hahn said. “I mean, I think right now … anything is probably possible. But I have never heard anything definitive about that at all.”
And when Barrymore asked her who she would cast as Mephisto, Hahn perfectly deflected the question. Either Kathryn Hahn is very good at keeping potential spoilers quiet (unlike Tom Holland), or she honestly doesn’t know what will happen in the WandaVision spinoff. We’re leaning more toward the first option.
What happened to Agatha in the final episode of ‘WandaVision’?
Kathryn Hahn played Agnes, Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s nosy neighbor, in WandaVision. But in episode 7, fans learned that Agnes was actually Agatha Harkness, a centuries-old witch.
When Wanda inadvertently created Westview out of her grief for Vision, Agatha sensed her chaos magic and came running. She showed Wanda who she truly is; the Scarlet Witch. And since Wanda’s power as the Scarlet Witch is unimaginable, of course, Agatha wanted it for herself.
In the finale, Wanda and Agatha face-off, and the Avenger defeats the evil witch. Wanda traps Agatha in her Agnes persona, which was the last time fans saw her.
Agatha: House of Harkness, the WandaVision spinoff starring Kathryn Hahn, is currently in development at Marvel Studios. And all nine episodes of WandaVision are now streaming on Disney+.
