‘Welcome to Plathville’ Fans Don’t Believe Ethan’s Approach to Girls at Bars: ‘Paid Actresses’
TLC’s Welcome to Plathvillehas come a long way since its first season in 2019. Many of Kim and Barry’s kids have found their own way, and the Plath’s oldest son, Ethan, has finally closed the door on his marriage to Olivia.
Now, Ethan is stepping back into the dating game, but some fans don’t believe that his recent interaction at a bar was actually a true moment.
Ethan Plath is getting back into the dating game
Those who followed Ethan and Olivia’s story know their marriage saw problems for a couple of years. Olivia did not get along with Kim, Ethan’s mother, and it led the entire family to turn against Olivia. Eventually, though, Ethan’s brother and sister, Micah and Moriah, became close with Olivia; Olivia helped the two younger siblings to break free from their extremely sheltered childhood.
Ultimately, things went downhill between Olivia and the rest of the family, and she and Ethan learned they had differences that they couldn’t get past — such as Olivia wanting to remain free-spirited and Ethan wanting her to be a caretaker — they opted to divorce. In the most recent episode, Ethan was spotted at a bar with a friend, where he started a conversation with two women.
Ethan felt the conversation seemed to be flowing and had plans to follow-up with one of the girls. But some of those who watch the show disagree that it was a genuine interaction.
“Those 2 girls are straight up paid actresses … They saw the cameras and stayed,” one person wrote in a Reddit thread about the interaction.
“Pretty sure these are paid actors by TLC. They likely picked them,” another person added.
“What was amazing to me was how she walked in with a mic pack already on. What are the chances?? What good luck!” someone else joked.
Some fans are happy to see Ethan ‘smiling’ again
Whether the interaction was real or not, some fans are just happy to see that Ethan appears to be moving past the Olivia phase of his life. Going out to a bar to meet someone isn’t easy when you’ve gone through a breakup, and Ethan seemed to be enjoying himself.
“Honestly just glad Ethan is smiling again!! He’s smiled more this season already than he did in all of last season,” one fan commented.
Ethan and Olivia did try to make their marriage work; they had problems for quite a while but did their best to overcome them. Ultimately, things didn’t work out, and both of them have started living their own lives. Olivia recently began dating someone new who, at least on the surface level, seems to be a better match for her free spirit. Time will tell when Ethan meets another potential wife.
