Wendy Williams Creeps People Out With Birthday Tribute to Her Son Kevin Hunter Jr.
Wendy Williams‘s son Kevin Hunter Jr. celebrated his 20th birthday on Tuesday, Aug. 17. To celebrate, Williams took to Instagram and posted a tribute in honor of him, but the message came off more creepy than cute to a lot of fans. The talk show host penned a lengthy message alongside a photo of weird keepsakes she’s kept from his life, including hair and other personal items.
Who is Kevin Hunter Jr.?
Kevin Jr. was born on Aug. 17, 2000, to Williams and businessman Kevin Hunter. Despite his famous family, he was raised out of the spotlight in New Jersey and given the chance to live a regular life, though Williams has occasionally talked about him on her eponymous daytime show.
At the time of this writing, Kevin Jr. is pursuing an undergraduate degree at a school in Miami. Though he’s no longer close to home, Williams has said that they have a close relationship. She even suggested to People in an October 2019 interview that Kevin Jr. helped her through her split from his father, which came earlier in the year when he allegedly fathered a daughter with another woman.
“He’s always encouraged me to keep it going,” she told People of her son. “And never asks me to pull back from anything that I say or that I wear or anything like that. He’s always been very encouraging. So now, it’s just the two of us against the world.”

On the morning of Aug. 17, Williams went on Instagram to help Kevin Jr. ring in his 20th birthday. She posted a note about the occasion alongside a photo featuring some of Kevin Jr.’s hair, one of his old baby shoes, throwback pictures of him, and more.
“Today is my biggest day! Son Kevin & I are celebrating his 20th birthday❤,” she began. “He’s in Miami & I’m in NYC, but love never stops. If you look closely you’ll see remains of 1st hair cut, my cerclage is on sneaker, like a mom… I DO have all his teeth😂I’m not a fan of cake, but today OK…for my son❤ What are you doing?”

Many fans sent Hunter Jr. love and birthday wishes in the comment section. But at the same time, a lot of people were weirded out by the post.
“What in the voodoo witchcraft is all that hair,” one fan said as another person wrote, “I’m more concerned about the cerclage 🤮 it’s the stitch(es) that hold your cervix closed. Whhhhyyyyy.”
Someone else was equally bothered by the cerclage, writing: “What in the fresh voodoo hell is up with keeping the cerclage of all things?! Sweet baby geezus…” A fourth fan added: “Hair and teeth really? Disgusting.”
Others suggested the items have sentimental value and encouraged others to be more sensitive. “A lot of people keep things like this …..nothing creepy about it,” one fan said while another person added: “I do understand because I still have my son hair and he is 30 years old when you only have one son you hold on to everything of his and it is called love.”
Kevin Jr. did not comment on the post and Williams has not reacted to the messages it received.
