Wendy Williams Finally Breaks Her Silence, Talks About Health and Getting ‘Stronger’ for Talk Show Comeback
Wendy Williams has finally broken her silence on social media after weeks of absence from the digital world. The talk show host has been experiencing “ongoing medical issues” that she is working on since September 2021. Williams shared an Instagram video where she talked about her health and teased her comeback to television.
Wendy Williams shares new video
Williams had not been making many public appearances since she tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) and other reported health issues. The television star recently shared a video on Instagram that was recorded by her son Kevin. In the video, Williams is seen walking by the beach, wearing black seats, and a black cap. Williams talks about her health and hope to get “stronger” to return to her daytime talk show.
“I’m doing OK, you know? Beautiful sky… It’s very peaceful being here,” Williams says at the beginning of the five-minute video.
Later on in the video, Williams says that this beach setting is her break from New York, where she hosts her show.
“Everybody’s got issues, don’t they?” she says. “At 56 years old, there are things that happen to people. Things usually start about 40 and they go up from there. So you’ve got to eat the right food.”
About her television return, Williams said, “I am going back stronger … I want to be all I can be and then get back to New York and get on down with the Wendy Williams Show.”
When was Wendy Williams’ video recorded?
Some fans pointed out that the video might be old because she didn’t get her age correct and she talked about being in Florida where her mother is at. In the comments, some fans pointed out that her mother died in December 2020.
However, a rep for the talk show host told Page Six that the video was just recorded on Wednesday, Feb. 16, the same day it was uploaded on Instagram.
“She thanks everyone who has been patiently awaiting her return and believes that, thanks in large part to the love and support of her son, her family, her new team of doctors, and a change of scenery, she is on the mend,” Williams’ publicist told the publication.
Wendy Williams is focusing on herself
Williams last checked in with her fans back in Nov. 2021, when a written statement was posted on her show’s official Instagram account. In the post, Williams acknowledges that her health issues had been prolonged more than initially expected.
“I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected,” read the statement. “I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready.”
The talk show host also thanked her fans for all their “prayers and comments” acknowledging that she felt the love.
“You are everything to me,” she wrote in the statement. “I love spending my mornings with you all and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now Wendy has to focus on Wendy. I love you for watching.”
