Wendy Williams did not like Sean “Diddy” Combs, something that she did not try to hide throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. She discussed his life on her radio show and, later, on her televised talk show. According to Williams, Diddy felt the same way about her. While she did not want to delve into details, she said he worked hard to make her life difficult.

Wendy Williams said Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs put her through ‘hell’

Williams’ contentious relationship with Diddy was well-known enough that she dedicated an entire chapter of her 2004 book to him. She explained that she wanted to use the chapter of The Wendy Williams Experience to “put this whole issue to rest — once and for all.” She explained that while she didn’t hate him, she couldn’t forgive the way Diddy tried to take down her career.

“For the record, I do not hate Sean ‘Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy’ Combs,” she wrote. “I do not hate anyone, for that matter. I do, however, hold a certain level of contempt for Puffy. He single-handedly tried to ruin me, tried to ruin my career. He spent a lot of money and used a lot of his influence to try to crush me in New York in the late 1990s.”

Williams insinuated that Diddy was gay, which ultimately got her fired from her job at Hot 97.

“[Diddy] told Hot 97 if they didn’t get rid of her before he got back in New York, that they was not going to get any music from any of his friends, any of the record labels executives that was cool with him,” Diddy’s former bodyguard, Gene Deal, said, per Vibe Magazine. “Everyone was going to boycott their station.”

Williams said Diddy nearly succeeded in taking down her career, which she would never forget.

“It’s old news and I don’t really want to rehash the gory details, but I will say that Puffy almost accomplished his goal,” she wrote. “And the hell he put me through, I will never forget. But I don’t hate him.”

She said she still wished she could interview him

Though their relationship was not friendly, Williams said she would still welcome Diddy on her talk show. She didn’t expect this to happen, though.

“I would love to interview Puffy,” she wrote. “But it isn’t a goal of mine. I set reasonable goals for myself — goals that I have some assuredness that I can make happen. Interviewing Puffy isn’t very reasonable because it doesn’t depend solely on me.”

In 2017, Williams interviewed Diddy on The Wendy Williams Show.

While Williams believed she cleared the air with Diddy during their 2017 interview, she is still glad to see him facing legal consequences this year.

“You know how I feel about that? It is about time,” Williams told DailyMail.com. “To see this video on TV of [Cassie] getting pummeled … it was just horrific. But now you have to think, how many more times? How many people? How many more women? It’s just so horrible.”
