Wendy Williams Thinks a Nene Leakes Spinoff Would Be ‘Boring’
Wendy Williams and Nene Leakes are allegedly friends. However, judging from Williams’ interview on Watch What Happens Live, viewers would not think so. The talk show host was asked about Leakes leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta and might have been too honest. Williams said that Leakes shouldn’t get a spinoff show as it would be “boring.”
Why does Wendy Williams not think Nene Leakes should get a spinoff?
One of the things that Leakes had been fighting for as she negotiated her return to RHOA, was a spinoff series. Leakes had already expressed how some of the other Housewives stars got their own shows, despite being problematic. The Glee alum highlighted a double standard at Bravo and alluded to racial inequalities at the cable network.
After Leakes announced she was not returning to RHOA Season 13, Williams was a guest on Bravo’s late-night show. Andy Cohen asked for a reaction to the news as Leakes and Williams are close friends. You would think that as a friend Williams would support Leakes in getting her own show, but she went the opposite way.
“What are they going to do? Is it going to be like Greg and Nene, you’re going to give them another reality show? That’s boring,” Williams said. “How about Nene being a grandmother? That’s boring! Nene and her own kids? That’s boring! Nene trying to figure out Hollywood? That’s boring!”
Williams didn’t think that Leakes could headline her own show as she doesn’t have much going on. However, she did say that she didn’t think Leakes was completely done with RHOA.
“I believe that this is not a truth, Nene has quit the show several times and you’ll have her back,” Williams suggested. “And Nene likes attention, dramatic attention. I don’t know what she’s going to be doing for money, I’m not trying to count coins.”
Nene Leakes unleashes fury
After WWHL aired, Leakes had a whole lot to say on Twitter. The Fashion Police alum was not happy that her name was brought up on the show and said they only did it for ratings.
“She on cocaine so they should stop using her to talk,” Leakes said in a second tweet seemingly talking about Williams. “They both need my help with their poor ratings.”
Leakes was not playing around when she came for Williams and Cohen for talking about her. One of her last tweets even mentioned starting a lawsuit so they would stop talking about her.
“They gone leave my name outta these shows,” she tweeted. “Send me your best discrimination attorneys info to [email protected]. IT’S WAR.”
In the WWHL: After Show, Williams addressed allegations Leakes was only using her for clout.
“A lot of people have said that Nene is using me to… I don’t know for social media or whatever Nene would use somebody for,” she said on WWHL. “I don’t listen to that, I know who Linnethia is and it’s something deep in the heart.”
Williams did not address the Twitter tirade on her TV show on Monday, September 28. The talk show host did say she made an appearance on WWHL but did not mention what Leakes said on social media.
