With enough popular demand, Wendy’s can make changes to its menu. Whether it is bringing back spicy chicken nuggets or adding a show-themed product, Wendy’s occasionally holds special promotions. Recently, the restaurant chain teamed up with Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty.

Season five of Rick and Morty is here, and fans can view the upcoming episodes on Hulu and HBO Max. A while ago, Wendy’s created two new drinks that are inspired by the show. So, what is inside each of the two menu items exactly?

It would seem Rick and Morty have a habit of influencing the menu of fast-food chains. Many people remember when the show mentioned Szechuan sauce. McDonald’s stopped serving it in 1998, but they brought it back due to the demand of fans. It got a little out of hand, to say the least.

Now Wendy’s is reaching out to Rick and Morty fans everywhere for new promotion. While they are not resurrecting an old menu item, the company is collaborating with the series. According to CNET, Wendy’s has released two new drinks that got inspired by Rick and Morty.

The new menu items were to promote the premiere of the fifth season. Fans can look for “Mello Yello Berry Jerryboree” and “Mello Yello Portal Time Lemon Lime” the next time they visit the restaurant. However, the drinks only are available at over 5,000 locations.

It is not the first time Wendy’s teamed up with the show. The company once added limited-time products to the breakfast menu. Fans may have found that the flavor of Szechuan sauce left much to be desired. The orange and lime-green-colored sodas may leave people more satisfied after a meal.

Some fans want to know what is inside a Portal Time Lemon Lime or Berry Jerryboree before they head to their local Wendy’s. As the names suggest, the drinks contain the popular soda brand Mello Yello. The ingredient list for Berry Jerryboree includes multiple flavors of Mello Yello. The flavors are orange, strawberry, cherry, and limeade.

For Portal Time Lemon Lime, the concoction is a combination of Mello Yello limeade and a citrus twist. Sugar is in both of the drinks, but they come in zero-sugar alternatives as well. People who love Rick and Morty and Mello Yello are going to be in for a treat.

Some fans may come to the conclusion that the drinks taste like candy, specifically SweetTarts. It is unsurprising since the contents include fruity flavors and a lot of sugar. Portal Time Lemon Lime will obviously taste more like lemon and lime.

How do the drinks tie into the show?

As mentioned before, the drinks got added to the menu to hype up the release of Rick and Morty season five. The first episode premiered on June 20, 2021, and fans can expect the season to have 10 episodes total. How do Berry Jerryboree and Portal Time Lemon Lime tie into the show?

Portal Time Lemon Lime is referencing the portals from Rick’s gun due to the green color. The portal gun allows the main characters to travel to different dimensions or alternate realities. The gadget has been present since the beginning of the show, and the portals look like swirling shades of lemon-lime.

In another episode, there is a daycare called Jerryboree. The daycare holds various versions of Morty’s dad, Jerry. The place’s purpose to keep all the Jerries safe if they step foot off of Earth. The plot point helped inspire Berry Jerryboree.
