As Counting On fans are well aware, Jim Bob and his wife, Michelle Duggar, homeschool their children and are not huge advocates of attending college. In many ways, this upbringing does not prepare the Duggar kids for competing in the real world.
This is one reason why so many of them have failed to start careers of their own. Instead, most of them seem content with marrying, having children, and relying on Jim Bob and Michelle’s support to get by.
Most of the Duggars stick by Jim Bob and Michelle’s strict set of rules, but Jill Duggar has been the exception to the rule. Although Jill seemed happy to follow her parents’ lead, she and Derick no longer talk to her side of the family.
The feud started between Derick and Jim Bob after the men disagreed on how Jim Bob was handling earnings from the show. Derick was unhappy with how Jim Bob was negotiating contracts and accused him of pocketing the majority of the money.
How are Jill and Derick making a living?
As one can imagine, Derick’s feud with Jim Bob has put him and Jill in a tricky position. The couple, who share two children, can no longer rely on money from TLC or stipends from her family.
To help make ends meet, Derick has been working as a driver for Grub Hub. He is also finishing his law degree, though it is unclear if he is close to graduating.
As fans will recall, Derick was fired from Counting On in 2017 following some controversial remarks on social media. Derick found himself in the hot seat after he took a stance against the LGBTQ community and seemingly attacked Jazz Jennings.
After Derick was let go, Jill Duggar quickly followed. Although she enjoyed a brief cameo on the latest season of Counting On, she has not returned to the show in a full-time role.
The decision to leave Counting On was not an easy one for Jill and Derick. Not only did they take a huge hit financially, but Jill’s relationship with her siblings has also suffered.
Derick Dillard takes aim at Jim Bob
Derick has not been shy about attacking Jim Bob on social media. Over the past year, Derick has accused Jim Bob of a number of offenses, including stealing money from his own children.
In the latest development, Derick took a shot at his father-in-law after Jill Duggar was spotted hanging out with her sisters. Taking to social media, Derick alluded to the idea that Jim Bob was “allowing” his children to see Jill just so he wouldn’t look bad in public.
“Glad you were ‘allowed’ to visit with them,” Derick shared.
Despite all of the shots Derick has taken, Jim Bob has yet to comment on the situation. Inside sources claim that Jim Bob has remained silent because he is waiting for the right time to strike.
Did Jill Duggar throw shade at Jim Bob?
In light of what has happened between Derick and Jim Bob, a recent post by Jill has left fans wondering if she was taking a shot at her father.
In a recent post to Instagram, Jill Duggar shared a quote from writer Edith Schaeffer that commented on how parents often fail to connect with their children.
“You cannot expect to have a close relationship with a teenager who, after all, is still the same person as the 2-year-old you stuck crying into bed, the 3-year-old you spanked and shoved aside, the 4-year-old you wouldn’t listen to, the 5-year-old you never shared beauty with, the 6-year-old you found boring, or you ‘trained’ never to butt in, but never gave time to make a cozy and beautiful background out of which you could talk to him or her,” Jill posted.
The comment comes following Derick’s claims that Jim Bob does not allow them to visit his house without express permission. Jim Bob has not responded to Jill’s latest post, but it is clear that their feud has not died down.
There is no telling what will happen next with Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard, though they have definitely sacrificed a lot after being cut off by Jim Bob.
