What Has Sasha Alexander Been up to Since ‘Rizzoli & Isles?’
Sasha Alexander is arguably known best for her 7-year run in the TNT drama Rizzoli & Isles. She played Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Maura Isles and worked across from Angie Harmon’s Detective Jane Rizzoli. Together, the two solved some of Boston’s most deceptive and dark homicide cases. Yet, Rizzoli & Isles is now several years in the past; the TV show ran from 2010 to 2016. So, what has Sasha Alexander been up to since the finale?
Sasha Alexander was in ‘Shameless’ toward the end of ‘Rizzoli & Isles’
From 2015-2016, Alexander appeared in 11 Shameless episodes as Helené Runyon. In the show about a feisty and scrappy family led by William H. Macy, Alexander portrayed a Professor at Lip Gallagher’s College. She soon winds up becoming the boy’s sexual partner.
Runyon and Gallagher start a casual sexual relationship after Gallagher enters her office and comes on to her. Though their affair starts off as “nothing serious,” the romance blossoms into a much deeper and significant dynamic.
As would be expected in Shameless, the show takes many unexpected turns; Helene’s husband (who allows her to sleep with other men) watches the two during intimate moments. And, in season 6, Lip’s ex-girlfriend decides to exact a little revenge. In the end, Lip and Runyon don’t work out, and Runyon loses her job at Chicago Polytechnic University…and Alexander exits the series.
Alexander played a detective in 2020’s ‘Dangerous Lies’
Alexander recently appeared in the Netflix original Dangerous Lies. In the film, a wealthy and elderly man dies, and he unexpectedly leaves his entire estate to his new caregiver. The caregiver is drawn into a web of lies and deception, as she is forced to question all those around her — even those she loves and trusts.
Since the situation is quite suspicious, there is a clever detective on the case — Detective Chesler — who is portrayed by Sasha Alexander. Looks like Alexander just couldn’t get enough of crime-oriented TV.
Inside Sasha Alexander’s other TV and film appearances since ‘Rizzoli & Isles’
While the above two performances may be the most notable, Sasha Alexander has appeared in (or voiced characters) in a handful of other TV shows, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Amazing Stories, Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons, FBI, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and more.
While Sasha Alexander seems to flock to TV over cinema, she has appeared in a handful of movies as well since departing Rizzoli & Isles. Alexander was in 2017’s Bernard Huey, 2018’s Amanda McKay, and 2018’s The Ride.
