She says that she had been working since the age of nine and had “hit a wall”. Her constant working had taken its toll, “I was not in any shape to do a movie. I was depressed. It was not a good time for me.”
Russo says that part of her problem was that she wanted to do something different. And something different is exactly what she did. During her break, she worked with the Department of Water and Power in LA and opened her own dairy, White Cow Dairy.
In 2014 the actress opened up about her struggles. She told ABC News that she is taking medication to help manage her bipolar. She said, “I think unfortunately depression and anxiety are really hard to live with and what people don’t need is to feel bad about themselves because they like to go on medication.”
