How does BTS make their money?

BTS is one of the biggest boy bands in the world. As a group, these members did a few brand deals with companies like Starbucks, Hyundai, and Samsung. They also do plenty of charity-related projects, including partnering with UNICEF for their “Love Yourself” campaign.

There’s BTS merchandise for fans to splurge on, the most iconic being the ARMY Bomb, which fans wave during concerts. There’s also a line of “BT21” characters corresponding to each member. For two years in a row, BTS also had their own “pop-up shop” in Seoul, complete with exclusive merchandise.

BTS also makes a considerable amount of money from writing, recording, and performing their original music. The group planned on embarking on the Map of the Soul world tour during 2020, but the live shows have since been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“In 2019 the group generated $170 million touring…,” Celebrity Net Worth reports. “Thanks largely to these touring revenues, between June 2019 and June 2020, the BTS members earned a combined $50 million, roughly $7 million per member.”

The oldest member and youngest member of BTS both have an estimated net worth of around $20 million

As one of the biggest boy bands in the world, these performers accumulated some wealth since their debut in 2013. That includes the youngest member of the group, singer Jungkook, as well as the oldest member of the group, singer Jin.

Celebrity Net Worth estimates they each have around $20 million. Most of the members of this K-pop group earn around the same amount for their work performing with BTS. However, some have branched out to work on solo projects.

Several BTS members have solo projects, contributing to their income

Some of the BTS performers have branched off to do solo projects, including most members of the “rap line.” RM collaborated with Lil Nas X for a remix of the song “Old Town Road.” J-Hope performed “Chicken Noodle Soup” with Becky G, releasing a music video for the same song.

Suga released two mixtapes under the stage name Agust D, where he explained he has more creative freedom. That shows through for the music video for “Daechwita,” which currently holds over 150 plays on YouTube.

These solo projects presumably contributed to their net worth. As of 2018, some expected J-Hope to have the highest net worth in BTS, (Celebrity Net Worth estimating $20 million.) This is due, in part, to his mixtape, Hope World, and his other musical collaborations.

The “Dynamite” music video is now available on YouTube. Music by BTS, including their recently released album, Map of the Soul: 7, is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major platforms.
