What is ‘Candy Coated Christmas’ about?

Drummond is one of the beloved stars on Food Network and it was a no-brainer casting her in a Christmas-themed movie. Kathleen Finch, Chief Lifestyle Brands Officer, at Discovery Inc. said in a press release that “nearly 60 million viewers watched Food Network between Halloween and New Year’s Day.” This is the major reason that Discovery is now getting into the holiday movie business.

Candy Coated Christmas also stars Molly McCook, Aaron O’Connell, Jae Suh Park, John McCook, Lee Garlington, Landry Townsend, among others.

Drummond plays Bee, owner of Bee’s Bakery, who befriends Molly when she arrives at Peppermint Hollow, the Peppermint Capital of the world.

The movie is now streaming on the discovery+ service.

Ree Drummond was nervous about acting

The Pioneer Woman star is used to being in front of a camera, but she’s used to playing herself. On Candy Coated Christmas, Drummond plays a fictional character and has to follow a script. It was back in August when the Food Network star opened up about making her acting debut in a film.

“Look at those tightly locked knees — I was certain I was gonna wind up fainting like those bridesmaids/groomsmen we used to see fall over on America’s Funniest Home Videos,” Drummond said in an Instagram post where she shared photos from the movie set.

Drummond continued, “I was nervous filming this movie because I am not an actor, and being on a movie set in Utah was a whole different experience than filming a cooking show in my own kitchen. Fortunately, once a woman hits her fifties, the possibility of embarrassing herself really doesn’t keep her from doing anything in life.”

And that’s the reason why fans love The Pioneer Woman because she always takes risks and is not afraid of poking fun of herself either.
