What’s Really Going On Between Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum
2021 is clearly the year of celebrity relationships and fans think they’ve already found their next A-list pairing. On Aug. 18, actors Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum were spotted enjoying a bike ride together on the streets of New York City. Though they’ve been seen out together before, the pair’s latest outing has the internet wondering if something is going on between them.
Is this just a friendship, or are Kravitz and Tatum in the early stages of a romance? Here’s what we know.
Both celebrities just got out of serious relationships
Suppose you’ve been keeping up with celebrity breakups over the past year. In that case, you likely know that both Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum called it quits from their significant others before rumors surrounding their relationship began to swirl.
In April 2020, the Step Up actor split from singer Jessie J after dating on and off for two years.
Before his romance with Jessie J, Tatum was married to fellow actor/ dancer Jenna Dewan. The two tied the knot in 2009 and were together for nine years, during which they welcomed their daughter, Everly Tatum. Though Tatum and Dewan seemed like a match made in heaven, their love story came to an end in 2018.
In her 2019 book Gracefully You: Finding Beauty and Balance in the Everyday, Dewan seemingly explained why she and Tatum called it quits, noting that things just weren’t working out.
“I’d come to realize the dynamic I was in wasn’t serving me nor was it serving my daughter,” she wrote, according to E! News. “First and foremost I had to accept the realization this isn’t working and had moved into hurting.”
As for Kravitz, she pulled the plug on her marriage in December 2020. The High Fidelity actor filed for divorce from her husband, Karl Glusman, 18 months after they exchanged vows at her dad Lenny Kravitz’s Paris home in June 2019.
Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum sparked romance rumors earlier this year
Following their respective splits, rumors surrounding Kravitz and Tatum possibly dating began circulating. The speculations first sparked after the two came together for an upcoming project.
According to Variety, Kravitz and Tatum are working on a feature film together called Pussy Island.
The film is Kravitz’s directorial debut and stars actor Naomi Ackie as Frida “a young, clever, Los Angeles cocktail waitress who has her eyes set on the prize: philanthropist and tech mogul Slater King (Tatum). When she skillfully maneuvers her way into King’s inner circle and ultimately an intimate gathering on his private island, she is ready for a journey of a lifetime. When people caught wind of Kravitz and Tatum working together, many began to speculate that the two were dating behind closed doors.
Although many romantic relationships have been developed on film sets (cough cough Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde), insiders quickly shut down claims that Kravitz chose Tatum as her next relationship.
“They’re working together on an upcoming project and it’s not true that they’re dating,” a source told People in January 2021.
Zoë says she and Channing are friends
Now that the two actors have been spotted together in New York City looking rather cozy, fans really want to know: Are Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum dating?
While romance rumors surrounding these two have been dispelled in the past, many are having a hard time believing that the pair are just friends following their latest outing.
The two were photographed sharing a single bicycle as they rode around the Big Apple. In photos obtained by Page Six, the Dear John star peddled around while Kravitz stood on the bike’s pegs with her arms around his neck.
While it looks like the two could be in a relationship, Kravitz recently shared that she and Tatum are just pals.
In June 2021, Tatum spoke to Deadline about how Kravitz helped him retire one of his fashion choices.
“When someone can just come out and tell me I should not be wearing Crocs, and is so adamant about it, she completely convinced me and I never wear Crocs anymore,” Tatum said at the time.
Kravitz quickly retorted by saying, “I was just trying to be a good friend, Chan.”
Although it would be easy to assume Kravitz and Tatum are dating, it sounds like they are nothing more than just friends.
