Sajak had made quite a name for himself on TV thanks to Wheel of Fortune — but he wasn’t always destined for gameshow fame. Celebrity Net Worth reports Sajak was born in 1946, and he served in the U.S. Army in 1968. It was in the Army that he got his first taste of radio, as he became a disc jockey and started each broadcast with, “Good morning, Vietnam!”
In the ’70s, Sajak knew he wanted to work in the entertainment world. He accepted a position as a weatherman in Los Angeles and didn’t get his first taste of gameshow fame until the ’80s.
Thankfully, by 1981, Sajak was given a shot to host Wheel of Fortune. Chuck Woolery was the original host of the show, and Sajak was to take over — but there were plenty of obstacles to overcome. The president of NBC at the time didn’t want Sajak as the host, but Sajak was able to pull through. So far, he’s won three Emmy awards and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work.

How old is Vanna White?
White has her own legacy that’s totally different from Sajak’s. Celebrity Net Worth notes White was born in 1957 and got her first ounce of fame in film. In 1981, she took part in films like Looker and the horror movie, Graduation Day. And in 1982, her work with Wheel of Fortune began.
The host we all know and love was first hired as a substitute host for the show. But by the end of 1982, she was hired as the primary host — and she’s stuck with the job ever since.
White might be best known for her ever-changing wardrobe, too. She’s worn nearly 7,000 dresses without a single repeat since 1982. While she doesn’t get to keep each dress, she does get to showcase designer clothing for all to see.
So, how old is White now? She’s 64, a decade younger than her co-star.
Are Pat Sajak and Vanna White friends?
Sajak and White have worked together for years, but they’ve never dated. Instead, they’ve grown close as best friends, and there’s nothing that could break their bond.
“People at home see the chemistry between Pat and me,” White told Closer Weekly. “We are like brother and sister, and I think that is what makes it work.”
“It’s like lightning in a bottle,” Sajak noted. “We’ve never had one argument.”
While the two are friends now, Sajak didn’t always like White. He once said she wasn’t cut out to be his co-host on Wheel of Fortune. “She seems like a nice, sweet girl. It’s too bad she’ll never get hired for anything,” Sajak noted prior to White getting the job. He was wrong, of course.
“We get along so well and are really best friends,” White added. “We always have been.”
