When Did Kim Kardashian Become the Most Boring Kardashian?
Back in the early 2000s, Kim Kardashian was really the only one of her sisters whose name was familiar to the general public. However, these days, the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan is famous and widely talked about.
Now that Kim herself is almost 40 years old, it seems like the reality TV star is no longer making as many outrageous headlines as she did in the past. What exactly has happened in the past several years? How did Kim Kardashian go from being the most famous Kardashian to the most boring one?
Kim Kardashian helped propel her family into stardom
Aside from being the daughter of O.J. Simpson’s lawyer, Robert Kardashian, Kim Kardashian became known in the early 2000s for hanging out with popular celebrities of the time, most notably Paris Hilton.
However, her fame skyrocketed after the release of her sex tape with rapper Ray J in 2003. Although the general knowledge is that the sex tape was released without Kim Kardashian’s consent, some people believe that her mother/manager, Kris Jenner, leaked it on purpose.
Either way, the tape brought Kim notoriety and a few years later, her whole family got the chance to have their own reality show, called Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show went on to become one of the most successful reality TV shows in America, having numerous spin-offs throughout the years and is currently on its 16th season.
Kim Kardashian no longer has the highest net worth in her family
Thanks to KUWTK, Kim Kardashian is no longer the only member of her family with wealth and influence. Her sisters have gone on to become well-known as well and have built impressive careers for themselves.
The youngest sister, Kylie Jenner, has now eclipsed Kim in terms of wealth. Kylie Jenner has her own makeup brand and was recently declared a billionaire, which means that her net worth is almost three times more than Kim’s $350 million.
Kim Kardashian toned down her lifestyle after the Paris robbery incident
Even though Kim Kardashian is no longer the richest member of the family, it does not seem like she cares one bit about pursuing more fame and more wealth.
One event that explains how Kim Kardashian has changed since her younger days is the infamous 2016 Paris robbery incident. The reality star made headlines after she was robbed at gunpoint in her hotel room and a group of thieves made off with $10 million worth of jewelry.
Although she made it out alive, Kim was no doubt traumatized by what happened. She increased security around her house and around her family at all times.
Kim Kardashian has reflected a lot on the event and realized how her life needed to change, especially now that she has young kids whose safety could be at risk.
Kim used to be more comfortable sharing with people her expensive goods as well as her current locations, though she has since decided to be more private about her personal life.
“There was a lot of me that measured who I was by how much I had,” she added. “I thought ‘Oh, I’m worth so much.’ So that changed in me. And that needed to change in me, so I’m grateful for the experience.”
Kim Kardashian is now pursuing a law career
Kim Kardashian has also decided to focus her energy nowadays on a bigger cause than just earning Instagram followers. These past few years, she has been interested in the criminal justice system and learning about the inequality that exists in it.
When she was helping Alice Marie Johnson, a woman who was convicted in 1996 on a nonviolent drug charge, she became passionate about helping those who have been treated unfairly.
“I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more,” Kim said.
Recently, Kim Kardashian shared that she is currently studying to take the bar exam. Although Kim did not finish college, her state (California) does have a way for people like her to still take the bar without a college degree.
Some online users have derided her for the decision, but Kim Kardashian is determined to pursue this path.
She wrote: “One person actually said I should ‘stay in my lane.’ I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals. You can create your own lanes, just as I am.”
