Where Is Beyoncé From and What’s Her Real Name?
Beyoncé. Like Madonna or Cher, Beyoncé is a singer that only requires one name. Her powerful presence, insane voice, and stunning looks have made her a force to be reckoned with since she first stepped on the scene as the frontwoman to Destiny’s Child.
Now, Beyoncé is a mother of three and married to one of the most powerful men in hip hop. The two epitomize the definition of the perfect couple and are vocal activists for causes they care about. Where did Beyoncé get her start and what is her real name?
Where is Beyoncé from?
Beyoncé Knowles was born in Houston, Texas on September 4, 1981. She started singing from an early age, competing in and winning many vocal competitions. At just 9 years old, Beyoncé formed the all-girl group Girl’s Tyme. The group performed on the talent show, Star Search, but walked away without the top prize.
But Star Search was not the last that the world would see of Ms. B. In 1997, Girl’s Tyme was signed by Columbia Records, where they changed their name to Destiny’s Child. Within a few years, the girls of Destiny’s Child were a global phenomenon.
Although they gained commercial success, Destiny’s Child would go on to see some changes in the years that followed. In 2000, two of the group’s members left and Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland welcomed in Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin — Franklin later quit.
Beyoncé was destined for a solo career
Destiny’s Child became a massive success in the early 2000s. The group sold millions of albums and were raking in trophies at all the big award shows. But as the years went on, each of the girls decided to pursue a solo career. Rowland and Williams had some success, but Beyoncé’s future as a star was solidified from the moment she broke away.
Beyoncé released her first solo album, Dangerously in Love, in 2003. The following year she won five Grammy awards for her debut album, leaving no doubt in anyone’s mind that this woman was going to be a star. She followed up Dangerously in Love with B’Day in 2006 and I Am…Sasha Fierce in 2008. In all, Beyoncé has released 8 massively successful solo albums.
She has become one of the most influential people in entertainment
There aren’t many artists that demand the respect that Beyoncé has gained. Beyoncé has worked hard to get to where she is. Each performance and album show’s how much the singer has dedicated to her success. Her 2018 Coachella event was so powerful that it has since been dubbed “Baychella.”
But that’s not enough. Netflix recently released Homecoming, a behind-the-scenes look at Beyoncé’s Coachella performance. There is also word that the singer signed a $60 million three project deal with Netflix, with Homecoming being the first. If Beyoncé is showing us anything, it’s that she is going to be long remembered as one of the best entertainers in history.
What is Beyoncé’s real name?
Beyoncé’s full name is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. Her unique first name gets its origins from her mother Tina’s maiden name. Tina Knowles was once known by the name Tina Beyincé. The name is French, and unlike the singer’s name, is pronounced Bay-EN-say. Tina didn’t think that her family name would be carried on much longer, due to the lack of men in her family, so she gave her daughter a version of the name. Little did Mama Knowles know how big the name would later become.
