When Black-ish premiered in 2014 on ABC, it quickly caught the attention of the masses. With its star-studded all-Black cast, it became one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. Black-ish recently concluded its eight-season run, giving rise to two sequels along the way: Mixed-ish and Grown-ish.

If you want to keep up with the Johnsons, you can follow the cast on their social media handles.

The premise of ‘Black-ish’

Black-ish centers around a wealthy Black family who move into a White-dominated suburb in Sherman Oaks, California. The family’s patriarch Andre Johnson, or Dre, is an advertising executive at Stevens & Lido. The family patriarch often finds himself taking up the cultural education role.

Dre shares five children with Rainbow, but he prefers Zoey over the rest and has a hard time bonding with Junior, his namesake. Dre has a shopping problem, especially concerning expensive shoes.

Rainbow is an accomplished anesthesiologist who doesn’t ever miss the opportunity to mention that she’s a doctor. She is biracial and was raised as a hippie, making her the butt of jokes between Dre and his mother, Ruby. Bow bonds more with Junior than any of her other children.

Zoey is the stereotypical teenager who cares more about how she looks, seemingly closed off to the realities of the world. She enjoys seeing Junior have a miserable time at school and has denounced him more than once at school to protect her popularity.

Jack and Diane have different personalities despite being twins. Diane’s family thinks she is evil and wants to watch the world burn. She seems to have a longstanding beef with her father’s colleague and friend Charlie, although it’s never made clear what led to the issue. Jack is aloof and uses his cuteness to get out of situations.

Dre’s parents live with the Johnsons and are shown to have had a rocky marriage, but they receive hope together toward the latter seasons. The Johnson’s neighbor Jeanine is passively racist and always hopes the Johnsons leave the neighborhood.
