Which BTS Member Is the Slimmest of the Group?
For those that have missed the boat, K-Pop is huge, and we’re not just talking about its popularity. Unlike many American or European singing groups that usually remain between three to five members, K-Pop girl and boy bands can be as bulky as 5, 10, 15, or even 27 members, as was the case with the largest K-Pop boy band ever, Double B.
Today, BTS is the boy band to watch, overshadowing many of its predecessors in the genre, such as Super Junior and SHINee.
In true K-Pop fashion, it has a roster of seven members, each with their own style and role in the group. For the superfans of BTS, keeping up with each member can feel like a full-time job.
The ARMY knows more than most — even each band member’s size.
What is ARMY?
ARMY is the self-appointed name of BTS superfans. They say it stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth, but it looks a little more like they just liked the name and made up the acronym meaning later.
BTS, on the other hand, is an acronym with a clear meaning: It stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, which means “bulletproof boy scouts.”
Accordingly, they are also sometimes called the Bangtan Boys.
ARMY is organized, international, and ready to buy each and every album and piece of merchandise BTS has to offer.
Different chapters have their own websites, Twitters, and Instagram accounts, letting other ARMY members and the general public know the latest news and information about BTS.
What are the real heights and weights of BTS?
According to their recent article, Korea Boo has the real scoop on the sizes of BTS members thanks to the ARMY. The tallest member of the group is the leader, RM, standing 5’11”. Next, come Jin and V, both 5’10.5″. The shortest member of the group, Jimin, is 5’9″, but Suga isn’t far behind. He is also 5’9″ in feet and inches but beats Jimin in height by a mere centimeter.
The remaining members, J-Hope and Jungkook, are 5’10”. That means all of the members of BTS are taller than the two shortest members of One Direction, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson who are both 5’8″.
Though every member of the group is quite slim, Suga is the lightest, at 130 lbs. Jungkook, the youngest member of the group at 22, is the heaviest at 154 lbs.
The boys have exhausting and elaborate dance moves to practice and perform, and the pressure was especially high when they were first starting out.
In a BBC1 Radio interview, the boys said: “When we had our debut, we practiced 12-15 hours a day,” It’s no wonder they are so fit.
What’s next for BTS?
BTS will be releasing their next LP with Big Hit Labels, Map of the Soul: 7, on February 21. They have already released their single “Black Swan.” The music video is a gorgeous art film featuring the MN Dance Company.
The release marks a shift in the band’s music as they explore what it means to dive deeper into their emotions and authentic identities.
In a press release for Black Swan explains further:
“The song lends voice to their fears that one day music will no longer be able to move or touch them. The very moment they come face to face with the Black Swan within themselves, however, they are stricken with a paradoxical realization that music is all they have. It is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself.”
ARMY is sure to be first in line when the new album drops.
