Which Seasons of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Were Shangela and Trixie Mattel On?
With over 100 sisters sashaying into the Werk Room on this reality competition series, these two performers stepped out on their own and became fan favorites. Which seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race were Shangela on? What about Trixie Mattel? Here’s what we know about these legendary Drag Race alumni.
Shangela appeared in a few seasons of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’
Halleloo ladies! Fans first met this dancing diva on season 2 of RuPaul’s reality competition series. She may not have won, but she definitely made her mark as an outgoing character and an outstanding queen.
As one of the first contestants to return to the series for a second time, Shangela popped out of a box for season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race to compete for a second time. (It was actually this season that her iconic “I’ve never had a sugar daddy” speech took place.) Although this time she made it farther, she still didn’t snatch the crown.
Since then, Shangela appeared in the HBO series, We’re Here, alongside her Drag Race sisters Eureka O’Hara and Bob the Drag Queen. As a member of the Haus of Edwards, she had a brief feature in Alyssa Edwards’ Netflix special, Dancing Queen, and later returned to the bubblegum pink walls of the Werk Room.
Trixie Mattel first starred on season 7 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’
A few seasons after Shangela, Skinny Legend Trixie Mattel (fondly referred to as “Tracy Martel” and “Bald” by fans,) entered the competition. This season was filled with plenty of talent and Trixie Mattel was sent home only to be brought back and then sent home again.
The winner of season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race was Violet Chachki. Still, Trixie Mattel made her mark on the world. Following her appearance on season 7, Trixie Mattel showcased her musical talent with the chart-topping fol albums, Two Birds and One Stone, (she’s gay, she loves themes.)
Trixie Mattel also appeared in a popular WOWPresents YouTube series alongside Katya Zamolodchikova and starred in the Viceland series, The Trixie and Katya Show. Eventually, she returned for RuPaul’s spinoff series’ like Celebrity Drag Race and All-Stars 3.
Both contestants returned for ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 3’
They might not have snatched the crowns of their respective seasons. Still, Trixie Mattel and Shangela had plenty of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to share with fans. So, they both went back back back again to the Werk Room and the competition series.
These queens returned for the third season of RuPaul’s spinoff series, competing for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar” alongside BenDeLaCreme, Bebe Zahara Benet, and other Drag Race alumni. In fact, both of the contestants made it to the “Top Four” of this season.
However, as a result of the “jury of queens,” only Trixie Mattel and Kennedy Davenport made it to the Top Two. Trixie Mattel then took home the crown and earned her spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame.”
