It’s no secret that The Bachelorette Season 16 star Clare Crawley is proud of her age. When the 39-year-old hairstylist was cast as the lead, she pointed out her life experiences have prepared her for the role. But it seems one contestant will try to age shame her on the show. In multiple season previews, a cast member calls Crawley the “oldest bachelorette” in an attempt to insult her. So who is the person behind the comment? Here’s what we know so far.

Clare Crawley discusses her age ahead of ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 16

When Crawley was announced as the next bachelorette, she spelled out how her age will work to her advantage.

“I feel like a lot of people put it out there as this negative thing,” Crawley said of her age on Good Morning America. “For me, it just is more years under my belt, more learning and knowing what I want, what I don’t want, and what I won’t settle for.”

Crawley also revealed she’s been known to date younger men, and the Sacramento native wondered how her cast members would feel if there were an age gap.

“The thing is, I’m wondering if they’re ready for me, for my age,” Crawley said. “I feel like that would be more an issue than me with them because I feel so much younger at heart than my actual age. I’m proud of my age, but I just feel younger. And that, to me, is what’s important.”

Multiple promo trailers show one cast member calling Clare Crawley the ‘oldest bachelorette’ as an insult

Before The Bachelorette Season 16 premiere, multiple promos revealed one cast member storms out and attempts to insult Crawley by calling out her age.

“I expected way more from the oldest bachelorette,” the contestant yelled at cameras in the dark.

The previews also showed Crawley’s response to the comments, and it seems likely the suitor will receive a one-way ticket home.

“Sick, sick, sick,” Crawley said in the preview. “I don’t care what I’ve done. To sit there and say, ‘You’re the oldest bachelorette.’ Guess what? I’m the oldest bachelorette that’s 39, that’s standing here, that’s single, because I didn’t settle for men like that.”

Spoiler king Reality Steve says Yosef Aborady ‘goes off’ on Clare Crawley in ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 16

According to Bachelor Nation spoiler guru Reality Steve, the man calling Crawley the “oldest bachelorette” is Yosef Aborady. For those of you who don’t remember, Yosef is the father who was called out by Tyler C. in the premiere. Host Chris Harrison also warned fans Yosef “doesn’t shy away from controversy” and has “zero filter.” Then the promo for the Oct. 20 episode showed Yosef saying, “Clare’s actions are completely unacceptable.”

Now, do Yosef’s comments eliminate him from Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette? In a blog post published in September 2020, Reality Steve revealed the contestant was sent home before the second rose ceremony. The Bachelor Nation blogger also shared the argument was about a group date he “wasn’t even a part of.”

Later, Crawley is “is determined to talk to the group date party crasher.” But he’s not the only one. Apparently, there will be another contestant who also wants to “challenge Clare about the action at the dodgeball date.”
