Who Is ‘Below Deck Med’ Guest Dr. Jennifer Berman?
If Below Deck Mediterranean charter guest Dr. Jennifer Berman looks familiar, it’s because she and friends enjoyed a birthday voyage last year on the Talisman Maiton.
Berman, who is also friends with Captain Sandy Yawn brought her pals to see Yawn in action. She was treated to a fun birthday rap courtesy of deckhand Colin Macy-O’Toole and some amazing cuisine from Chef Adam Glick. But she and her group were also stuck at the dock due to bad weather, while at the same time Yawn was managing an unfocused crew.
So now Berman and pals are back again, even ribbing Yawn about how last time the yacht didn’t leave port. Berman is also having quite a different culinary experience this time, even though the yacht left the dock. Although she’s probably familiar to Below Deck Med fans, others may also know her from her show The Doctors and other high profile media appearances.
She’s a medical celebrity
Berman is a urologist, sexual health and wellness expert, often featured on The Dr. Phil Show, The Today Show and Good Morning America. She is also a New York Times bestselling author and groundbreaking sexual health researcher.
She also co-hosted hit medical talk show The Doctors, plus Berman was featured on a Discovery Health show with her sister, sex and relationship therapist Dr. Laura Berman. Berman also founded The Berman Women’s Wellness Center in Beverly Hills, California where she treats patients.
As an advocate for women’s reproductive rights, Berman recently partnered with Plan B One-Step. She made the announcement on Instagram. “If ‘Plan A’ for birth control fails, the good news is, there’s ‘Plan B.’ Plan B is a One-Step emergency contraception that helps to prevent pregnancy before it starts,” she wrote.
Berman and Captain Sandy are also friends
Yawn and Berman have a fun friendship. After Yawn relocated to Los Angeles, California, she and Berman spent plenty of time hanging out and even hitting the slopes. They went skiing over the holidays, plus Yawn hung out with Berman and her son.
While Yawn has always been into fitness, it was Berman who got her into her now beloved Soul Cycle. “Hey, I can go to the gym and work out. I hated spinning until I went to SoulCycle and I have Jennifer Berman to thank for that,” Yawn told Bravo’s Lookbook. “That’s one great thing that came out of my friendship with her is that she turned me onto SoulCycle. And I live for it.”
Yawn says this is why she loves Soul Cycle so much too. “They have this gift of how they talk to you: Your 45 minutes is YOUR 45 minutes. Not to think about the workplace drama or what’s happening below deck…” Most recently she introduced girlfriend Leah Shafer to the workout. And it looks like Soul Cycle may have another fan as a result.
Don’t miss Berman, Yawn, and crew on Below Deck Med, Monday night at 9/8c on Bravo.
