Who Is ‘Bling Empire’ Star Kelly Mi Li?

Bling Empire has introduced fans to a whole new diverse group of LA’s upper-class Asian community with unlimited funds, fashion, and drama. There’s no doubt the series is here to stay and likely make these rich friends even richer.
Let’s take a closer look at who Bling Empire star Kelly Mi Li is and the source of her fortunes.
‘Bling Empire’ and what we know about Mi Li from the series
Bling Empire is the latest hit reality TV show that everyone is talking about. It has a long and diverse cast list of rich personalities in LA living lavishly while battling their own personal struggles in front of the screen. One of which is Mi Li and her beau.
Mi Li is portrayed as the sweet and ambitious entrepreneur in an incredibly toxic relationship, despite her ‘beauty and success.’ Countless times her relationship is tested, and her friends (other cast members) ask her why she sticks around. Her answer is usually ‘because he’s faithful,’ and that’s not typical in L.A.
According to TV Insider, it was important to include their experience with couple counseling, despite how personal it was.”There is still a bad stigma about mental health, especially in the Asian community,” Mi Li says. “Culturally, we’re supposed to hide our dirty laundry or anything negative. We are supposed to come out perfect and not talk about our problems. I’m really happy Andrew and I did therapy. I’m still going right now.”
Kim Lee tells Extra TV that their all-Asian cast reality show aims to teach people about the culture and remove some stereotypes, “We’re really tapping deeply into the Asian culture, and we’re breaking the barriers of like ‘Asians are just nerds behind the computer.'”
Mi Li away from the set
What is Kelly Mi Li like away from the set? You guessed it! Not much different from the show, it seems. If you’ve already run through the Bling Empire series and are following the cast after, you know they’re still ‘coming in hot’ and living it up.
That’s not all there is to know about Mi Li, though. She tells fans a little more about herself in a heartwarming Instagram post about the importance of being yourself.
“Being raised by a single mother, I realized how important it is to pave my own path. I was strongly encouraged and expected to become a doctor growing up like the rest of my family,” Mi Li writes. “By high school, I realized that the medical field wasn’t for me. I voiced this to my mom and decided to pursue finance before eventually establishing businesses in the entertainment industry. I’m glad I spoke my truth and followed my heart. #beyou #liveauthentic.”
The source of her fortunes
Before “eventually establishing businesses in the entertainment industry,” Mi Li has a fascinating past that fueled her love for a rich lifestyle. She’s independent, self-made, and filthy-rich, but she wasn’t always the source of her own fortunes.
According to OprahMag, before the self-made entrepreneur became who she is today, she “was married to a wealthy man from China. Then, in 2015, her husband was one of six people indicted in a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme. According to a report from the Department of Justice, the defendants ‘buried relatively small hidden text message service charges in the monthly mobile phone bills of thousands of customers who did not purchase the text message service’ and made millions.”
It’s no wonder loyalty and honesty is so extremely important to Kelly Mi Li nowadays. She says in the show, “I didn’t even know who I was sleeping next to.” Fortunately, she came out of it better than ever, making her own money and with more independence. With or without Andrew, she’ll likely come out on top again in season two.
