Who Is ‘Bly Manor’ Star Carla Gugino’s Long-Time Partner, Sebastian Gutierrez?
Carla Gugino can currently be seen in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor, which follows (though not narratively speaking) her leading role in the anthology’s former season, The Haunting of Hill House.
Though recently taking a turn to the treacherous and horrifying — also appearing in Gerald’s Game in 2017 — Gugino is well-known for her recurring role in the Spy Kids franchise. She has also starred in San Andreas, Jett, and Watchmen. Yet, Gugino isn’t the only famous one in her marriage. Gugino has been married to Sebastian Gutierrez since 2005.

Gutierrez is a Venezuelan film director, screenwriter, and film producer with many well-known titles to his name. He wrote the screenplays to the films Gothika, Snakes on a Plane, The Eye and The Big Bounce, and more.
Gutierrez also took home the Critics Award at the Festival Du Film Policier de Cognac for his directorial debut, Judas Kiss, which was a 1998 film starring Gugino, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, and Simon Baker. The movie paved the way for many of the filmmaker’s later career accomplishments. As for the story — the shooting of a U.S Senator’s wife raises the stakes for kidnappers seeking a ransom for a computer magnate.
Gutierrez is also known for working on one of the first motion pictures made intentionally for internet distribution and consumption. The film, Girls Walk into a Bar, stars his long-time partner Gugino, as well as Danny DeVito, Josh Hartnett, Rosario Dawson, and more.
Gutierrez has accomplished a great deal as a filmmaker — working as a writer and a director on various movies, while also occasionally serving as a producer. As Gugino appears in front of the camera, many of her well-known turns have her boyfriend behind it (or somehow involved in the production).

Gutierrez and Gugino have been together for over a decade, yet the two have not felt the need to walk down the aisle, according to existing reports. During an interview with Women’s’ Health back in 2009, Gugino explained why she and Gutierrez aren’t married, stating:
[Marriage] isn’t important for us. We like being boyfriend and girlfriend; there’s something sexy and fun about tha…We’re very much about, “There’s nothing holding us here other than our desire to be together.”

And, after all these years, they continue to boast both a romantic and professional relationship, as they have worked together many a time.
