Who Is Chris Brown’s Baby Mama and Girlfriend Ammika Harris?
Following months of speculation, Chris Brown confirmed on Dec. 11 that he’d welcomed a child with a woman named Ammika Harris. He and Harris had never publicly confirmed they were expecting or whether they were a couple. But they’ve often posted loving messages and tributes about each other. So, who exactly is Chris Brown’s apparent girlfriend? Here’s what to know about Harris.
Who is Ammika Harris?
Harris, 26, grew up in California. As an adult, she attended the University of California in Los Angeles, studying in an unknown field (via In Touch Weekly).
Later, Harris turned her attention to modeling. According to her Instagram page, Harris has worked with brands such as H&M, Fashion Nova, and PrettyLittleThing.
It’s unclear how she and Brown, 30, met. But they were first romantically-linked in 2015 and dated off-and-on in the years that followed. Harris and Brown sparked romance rumors again in January 2019 after they were seen together in Paris.
In June, PageSix reported that the pair was expecting a baby. Neither Brown or Harris addressed the report.
On Nov. 20, however, Harris and Brown shared cryptic messages on Instagram in which they seemed to announce that they’d had a baby. The next month, Brown officially announced the news. On Dec. 11, he posted an Instagram photo of their son, captioning it, “AEKO CATORI BROWN.” (His name is reportedly pronounced “echo.”)
“Can’t help but [fall] in love with you. #purespirit,” Harris captioned the same image.
How many kids does Chris Brown have?
Brown has two children in total. He also has a daughter, Royalty, whom he shares with model Nia Guzman. Brown reportedly impregnated Guzman during his on-off relationship with Karrueche Tran, and she gave birth to their daughter in 2014. (Tran, who began dating Brown in 2011, broke up with the singer for good after she learned he and Guzman were expecting.)
Initially, Brown and Guzman had a rocky relationship. In 2016, Guzman called Brown out for allegedly using drugs and being a bad parent. Meanwhile, the “With You” singer accused Guzman of being a “snake, golddigger, credit card swiper, freeloader” and more.
But things have since improved. According to TMZ, they went to mediation, worked out a custody and child support agreement, and put in the effort to stay civil.
When reports surfaced in July that Brown and Guzman were back in court battling over child support, Guzman shut the rumors down.
“Not true! All is great on our end!” she said in a statement shared with PageSix. “Please stop with the Chris Brown bashing.”
She continued, “It’s just sad that negative things hurry and try and get published! We are just tired of it. … He does pay and is not behind what so ever [sic].”
Brown’s representative also pushed back on the report, making it clear that Brown and Guzman are on cordial terms.
“Chris has been taking care of his child and he and his daughter’s mother have no issues,” the spokesperson said.
