The wife of NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford made headlines recently for a reason she probably wishes she didn’t and now everyone has questions about Kelly Hall Stafford.
Read on to find out more about the woman married to the Detroit Lions signal caller including her recovery from brain surgery and apology for her recent remarks.
Kelly had to have a brain tumor removed and re-learn everyday actions
Kelly Hall met her future hubby at the University of Georgia where he played his college ball and she was a cheerleader for the Bulldogs. They began dating and she became Mrs. Stafford when they tied the knot on April 4, 2015.
Kelly is the sister of former NFL player and current Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach Chad Hall.
As ESPN noted, Kelly revealed in 2019 that she had a brain tumor and needed surgery to have it removed. Following her operation, she had to re-learn how to do things like turn her head and walk down the stairs.
Kelly explained that her husband was an amazing supporter throughout her recovery.
Matthew was incredible during the whole process. He was literally by my side at every step. I had exercises I needed to do — some of them were seemingly simple, like shaking my head left and right — and Matthew helped me through all of it.
How many children the couple has together
Today, Matthew and Kelly have four daughters together.
They welcomed twin girls, Sawyer and Chandler, in 2017 followed by Hunter in 2018, and their newest addition, Tyler, was born in June 2020.
Kelly apologized for her ‘dictatorship’ comments
Matthew has spent his entire career in the Motor City but on Nov. 19, Kelly said she was tired of living in “dictatorship” Michigan with its COVID-19 restrictions.
Her comments drew the ire of many not only because of what she said about the state but also because after expressing her deep concern for small businesses she was seen shopping at a Target store that same day.
Kelly ending up taking to Instagram later to apologize for what her remarks.
“Should never have used the word ‘dictatorship,'” she wrote in the post. “I got caught up in the heat of the moment, that is my fault. I don’t know the answer and I won’t pretend to. I care about the people who are losing their lives or battling this.. and also the medical staff who care for them. And it is hard knowing these local business owners and watching them struggle and having to lay off their employees, not knowing how they are gonna make it. so I’m sorry. I let my emotions get the best of me. I love Michigan and the people here.. don’t get that twisted in this. This place was my rock during my tough times. And I wish there was an answer that pleased everyone but we know that is definitely not the case.”
Kelly followed that up with another apology which she said came right “from the heart” before wishing everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
