How George Clooney met his wife
Clooney married Lebanese-British lawyer, Amal Clooney (nee. Alamuddin) in 2014, as part of a four-day celebration, that took place in Venice, Italy. The couple met a year before that at Clooney’s home in Italy. Clooney explained how they met during an interview with David Letterman, on his Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
“I got a call from my agent who called me and said, ‘I met this woman who’s coming over to your house who you’re gonna marry.’ The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked and we stayed up all night talking.” Clooney said. During another discussion with David Letterman Clooney added that he “chased her for many months, calling and writing those kinds of things.”
Who is Amal Clooney?
Amal is a well known international law and human rights attorney who has represented clients such as WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, and the former Ukrainian Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko. Born in the middle of the Lebanese Civil War, in Beirut, Lebanon, Amal’s first name means “Hope,” because of her parents hope for a better future during the time of war. Her family left Lebanon when she was two years old, and she was raised in the United Kingdom.
Do George Clooney and Amal Clooney have any kids?
In June 2017, the couple welcomed twins, a daughter named Ella, and a son named Alexander. Clooney told The Today Show, “They really come out with their personalities that they’re born with. My daughter will be like, ‘Sit down!’ and [Alexander] will sit down. They’re just completely different personalities and they’re fun and smart. They already can… do all their ABCs in Italian and in English, and I can’t do that- in English!” Clooney continues, laughing, “[They] put peanut butter on their shoes so that it looks like poo poo on their shoes and stuff, and they think that’s funny.”
The Clooney family worries for their safety
Recently, Amal has been battling ISIS in the courtroom, for human rights violations. Her husband, Clooney, expressed concerns the twins may become targets because of his wife’s work. As reported by the Mirror, Clooney said “Everything changes when you have two kids on how you have to protect them. My wife is taking the first case against ISIS to court, so we have plenty of issues- real, proper security issues- that we have to deal with on a fairly daily basis. We don’t want our kids to be targets, so we have to pay attention to that. But, you know, we also live our lives. We don’t hide in corners.”
George Clooney thinks he hit the jackpot
Despite the safety concerns, Clooney seems very happy with his wife and family. Whenever he speaks with reporters, Clooney gushes about how lucky he is. When speaking about his wife to The Today Show, Clooney said he “hit the jackpot.” In an interview with ET, Clooney discussed his character in the new Hulu dramedy, Catch-22. He plays a lieutenant general with a big temper, but Clooney said, in real life, he never gets very angry at all because his life is so wonderful. “I’m not mad at anything. I got a brilliant, beautiful wife, I got two knuckleheads for kids, life’s great,” he said.
