Country singer Jake Owen performed for Hannah Brown and Tyler C. on the June 3 episode of The Bachelorette, and his love song probably melted your heart. The country star has actually been around for a while, but since he’s such a niche singer, not everyone has heard of him. So who is he — and what is he worth?

Jake Owen burst onto the country music scene with his 2011 hit ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night’

Starting in the early 2000s, country music began to shift from the niche country sound that everyone was used to into more of a pop-country genre. The genre traded in its southern sound for catchier, pop-centric tunes featuring less of a southern twang. And Jake Owen’s 2011 “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” was one of the songs that turned so many pop fans into country music fans. The song provided a catchy chorus with lines such as “never gonna grow up, never gonna slow down,” which a younger crowd found relatable. Within the same year, Florida Georgia Line came out with their first hit, “Cruise,” and it was songs with that same pop backbeat that essentially revolutionized 2010s country music. Owen was at the forefront of giving country music a rebirth.

He was married to model Lacey Buchanan for three years

The star of Owen’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” music video, Lacey Buchanan, eventually became his wife. The singer first met the model on the set of the music video, and they had a very public proposal — on stage in front of Owen’s entire hometown in Vero Beach, Florida. However, they kept the wedding a private, family-only affair. Despite an exciting couple of years, the two divorced in 2015. They have one daughter together. Owen then began dating his current girlfriend, Erica Hartlein, and the two welcomed a daughter of their own this past April.

Today, he has hit singles such as ‘Down to the Honkytonk’

Owen never took a break from country music, though his hit songs have ebbed and flowed. After his massive “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” hit, he had other hits such as “The One That Got Away,” “Real Life,” and “American Country Love Song.” His most recent singles, “Down to the Honkytonk” and “Homemade” were released earlier this year.

Owen is worth an estimated $10 million

Although Owen has arguably some of the catchiest songs in the country music industry, he hasn’t made as much of a name for himself as some others in country music, such as Kenny Chesney or Blake Shelton. However, Owen is still doing well for himself. Today, he’s worth an estimated $10 million. He’s toured with some big-name artists such as Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, and Kenny Chesney. Owen continues to come out with fun, summer-jam type songs, though he doesn’t dominate the industry the way artists such as Thomas Rhett and Blake Shelton do. Despite that, Owen is still widely respected in country music, and after his performance on The Bachelorette, he could once again break into the pop world with some country-pop crossovers.
