Who Is Markus Anderson and How Does He Know Meghan Markle?
Meghan Markle attended her surprise New York City baby shower in February 2019 with Markus Anderson by her side.
The Duchess reportedly had dinner at Ralph Lauren’s restaurant The Polo Bar with Anderson, Serena Williams, and Jessica Mulroney, following her baby shower.

Anderson works for Soho House
Anderson is a consultant for Soho House, a members-only club (yes, they still exist) with locations all over the world. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went on their first date at Soho House’s London location back in 2016. It was also the venue of Markle’s bachelorette party.
The club is so famous it became part of a Sex and the City episode, according to the Coveteur. Samantha wanted so badly to gain access into the club she stole another woman’s identity to get in.
He’s from Canada
Anderson who travels all over the world for his job is originally from Peterborough, Ontario.”Although I’m prone to drink almost anything, I’m partial to either champagne or beer,” he told the Coveteur. “I grew up in Ontario, after all.”
Anderson dresses down
For someone who works at a members-only club for the rich and famous, Anderson’s wardrobe is surprisingly casual. “A general uniform can be as simple as jeans and a great T-shirt,” Anderson said. “Luckily, the company I work for frowns on formality, so suits are saved for special occasions.”
He has an affinity for cashmere sweaters and Nike shoes.
He may have introduced Markle and Prince Harry
There’s speculation about who set up Prince Harry and Markle on their first date. The top two contenders are fashion designer Misha Nonoo, and Anderson. Anderson, who knows Prince Harry socially, allegedly played matchmaker in May 2016.
“He [Prince Harry] asked Markus if he could set up, not a date, but an opportunity for them to meet and that happened in one of the private rooms of Soho House,” Katie Nicholls, a royal commentator said.
“There were about seven or eight of them altogether and it was a perfect opportunity for Harry and Meghan to come together in a really informal environment and actually talk.”
He and Markle have been friends for years
Markle and Anderson have taken vacations together, with evidence being on Markle’s now deleted social media profiles.
She praised Anderson for being a good friend in an Instagram post saying “What would I do without you, my loving, supportive, and endlessly fun friend?? I know what….I would be bored, and life would be infinitely less interesting. I love you SO much. Happiest of days for you now and always. Love you xx”
His friends are famous
Anderson’s been known to associate with celebrities, probably because of his work.
He’s been connected to U.K-based jewelry designer, Shaun Leane. Markle has been seen wearing a pair of Leane’s gold earrings. And fashion designer and another friend Anderson shares with Markle, Misha Nonoo. He’s also been associated with designer Christopher Kane, model Alexa Chung, actor Jamie Dornan, and the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
