If you ask any woman what are the top qualities they look for in a man, many will tell you that a man with a good sense of humor is a must. Luckily, comedian Martin Lawrence is funny enough that he’s always had a beautiful lady by his side.
Despite a busy acting and stand up comedy career, he’s made love a priority. The Bad Boys star is currently preparing for a wedding with his longtime love. This will be the comedian’s third walk down the aisle.
Martin Lawrence’s previous relationships
Lawrence dated and was once engaged to Save By The Bell actress, Lark Voorhies. She appeared in a few episodes of season 2 of his hit show Martin but their relationship ended shortly afterward.
He wasn’t single for long. He married Miss Virginia USA, Patricia Southall, in 1995. They had a daughter, Jasmine Page, the next year, but divorced in 1997. She requested a restraining order from her ex-husband when she claimed his behavior became erratic. She spoke about why their relationship failed on an episode of Dr. Phil while promoting her memoir, as reported by AOL. “We were both really young, volatile with one another. We just could not figure out how to make it work,” she said.
In 1997, Lawrence began dating Shamicka Gibbs. Throughout their relationship, they had two daughters, Iyanna Faith and Amara Trinity. They married on July 10, 2010 at Lawrence’s Beverly Hills home. Lawrence filed for divorce from Gibbs on April 25, 2012, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for joint legal and physical custody of the children. She later appeared on the VH1 reality series, Hollywood Exes.
Who is Roberta Moradfar?
Lawrence began dating Moradfar and when it was time to pop the question, he spared no expense when he purchased the perfect engagement ring. The ring was custom-made by Iconic Jewels. The couple’s initials are engraved into the bottom of Moradfar’s engagement ring.
