Recently, Richie announced her engagement to Elliot Grainge. Grainge is not a well-known name, so many onlookers might wonder about who he is.
When did Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge begin dating?
Richie and Grainge were first linked in early 2021, just a few months after Richie ended her on-and-off relationship with Disick. The pair confirmed their relationship in April of that year.
A source also told ET that Richie and Grainge had known each other for a while before dating. “They have been friends for years and Elliot is also close with Sofia’s brother, Miles,” the insider said. “It’s very nice for Sofia to date someone who her family approves of and likes.”
On April 20, 2022, Richie confirmed her engagement to Grainge. She took to Instagram to share two photos from the proposal and wrote in the caption, “Forever isn’t long enough.”
Many of her famous friends responded with enthusiasm. For example, Paris Hilton—who is close with Richie’s older sister, Nicole Richie—wrote, “Congratulations sis!! So happy for you two! Love you!!” Meanwhile, Richie’s brother-in-law, Joel Madden, said “My heart is full” with several heart emojis.
Who is Elliot Grainge?
Unlike some of Richie’s ex-boyfriends, Grainge is very private and rarely appears in the tabloids.
According to Seventeen, Grainge was raised in England and is the son of Lucian Grainge, the chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group. As such, it’s no surprise that he grew up with an interest in the music industry.
“I was a weird kid who used to read the music trades,” he told Variety in 2019. “What I noticed about my father’s negotiating style was how transparent, honest and sensible he was. When you put your cards on the table like that, negotiating is less competitive and more about teamwork.”
As a young adult, he attended Northeastern University in Boston. Afterward, he moved to Los Angeles and launched his own record label, 10K Projects. The label has worked with artists such as Internet Money, Poor Stacy, and Tekashi 6ix9nine.
In 2021, Grainge even appeared on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list. According to the outlet, 10K Projects “has had 18 gold and eight platinum/multi-platinum singles that have accumulated a total of 22 billion streams.”

Shortly after Richie announced her engagement, Disick posted a photo of him in a speedboat on Instagram. He wrote in the caption, “In the 305 just call me good luck chuck.”
This is likely a reference to the 2007 comedy movie Good Luck Chuck, which starred Dane Cook. In the movie, a man named Chuck is cursed with a fate where every woman he dates finds their true love after breaking up with him.
