Lay Lay’s father is rapper Acie High. She told Ellen she hones her talent by practicing with her father. “I learned freestyle from my dad. He’s an artist in the industry. I watch him a lot go in the studio and it inspired me to rap,” Lay Lay told Ellen. “It takes practice, I’m still practicing, I’m going to get better at it.”
How That Girl Lay Lay prepares for performances
During an interview with the hosts of 97.9 The Box, Lay Lay said she prepares for performances by exercising and eating well. Yoga is her preferred way to stay fit. She also goes running. “I go running and I work out while I’m rapping,” she told the hosts.
One of the hosts asked Lay Lay why she works out so hard since she’s so young. She responded that it’s important to be fit if you’re going to be on stage. “When I go on tour and I perform, I gotta be like Beyonce,” she said, referring to the way Beyonce dances and jumps around the stage nonstop during her live performances. Lay Lay said money is what keeps her focused on her rap career. “If it’s something that I really want to do, I’m going to take my time and I’m going to focus on it,” she added.
That Girl Lay Lay at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
That Girl Lay Lay is set to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She posted a message on her Instagram page, encouraging all her fans to tune in. She also announced that she will be releasing her album, “All the Way Lit Up,” on the same day.
Additional performers who will be at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade include Natasha Bedingfield, Ozuna, Miranda Lambert, TLC, Ciara, Black Eyed Peas, Idina Menzel, Lea Michele, and Chicago.
