Who Is the Least Popular Disney Princess?
With a handful of iconic characters to choose from, some Disney fans find it hard to choose a favorite princess. Choosing their least favorite, though, is a much easier task. Who is the least popular Disney princess? Here’s what Disney fans had to say about these characters, according to polls and one online ranking.
The older Disney princesses aren’t popular among younger fans
Some are strong and brave, others are kind and understanding. Disney premiered its first princess movie in the 1930s and has been creating iconic characters ever since. Some princesses, however, have been more popular amongst Disney fans than others.
Based on USA Today’s ranking, Aurora takes last place in terms of the “best” Disney princesses, which is totally understandable. She’s known for being beautiful and for sleeping, but that’s pretty much it. It’s up to Prince Phillip to save her from Maleficent and even the three fairies play a role in saving Aurora from her impending death. Plus, Disney fans have seen this story before.
A few years prior, Disney released their animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which features, again, a princess who inevitably falls asleep due to a curse and has a prince (and her newfound friends) save her. Snow White was the first Disney princess, though, so that definitely counts for something.
Who is the most popular Disney princess?
With about a dozen Disney princesses to choose from, it’s hard for some fans to pick a favorite. Still, according to Refinery 29, one poll of over 80,000 people concluded that Cinderella is a fan-favorite princess. The reasoning behind this wasn’t exactly clear, but it could have something to do with
When it comes to which is the best princess-like quality, most picked “understanding,” like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. According to Disney fans on Ranker, however, the most popular Disney Princess is the star of Tangled, Rapunzel. With the help of Flynn Rider, Rapunzel chases after her dream and eventually discovers who she truly is.
Some Disney princesses movies have been made into live-action features
The most popular Disney princesses (and Disney characters) even earned their own live-action adaptations of the original animated movies. Most recently, that includes the live-action version of Mulan, which was set to premiere in cinemas during March 2020. It has since been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Some live-action remakes already available for streaming including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. There are still some remakes, reportedly, in the works, though. That includes the live-action version of The Little Mermaid, the movie showcasing the headstrong, red-headed princess, Ariel.
