Who Is Troy Aikman’s Wife, Capa Mooty?
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman played in the NFL for 12 seasons before moving to the broadcast booth. Today, he is the color commentator for Fox’s NFC games of the week alongside Joe Buck. Over the years the former signal caller has been mum about his private life, but that changed when he Catherine “Capa” Mooty.
Here’s more about the woman Aikman calls the “love of his life.”
When they were married
These days Aikman isn’t shy about posting photos on social media of his bride, who was born Catherine Cecile Person on Oct. 13, 1970.
The couple started dating in 2016. On June 2, 2017, Aikman announced via Instagram that they got engaged while in Lake Como, Italy. The pair tied the knot on Sept. 2, 2017 during a private ceremony in Santa Barbara, which was followed by a reception at the Four Seasons.
“Troy Aikman and his fiancée, Capa Mooty, were wed on Saturday in a small ceremony on the beach in Santa Barbara, Calif.,” the Dallas Morning News reported. “For a man whose personal life has been under the microscope for decades, he handled this wedding with perfect subtlety. The ceremony was for close friends and family only.”
This is not the first marriage for either of them
This isn’t the first marriage for the Hall of Fame quarterback. He was previously married to Rhonda Worthey, who worked as the Cowboys publicist when Aikman played for the team.
They wed in 2001 and in 2011, it was announced that they decided to end their marriage.
“This has been a difficult decision for Rhonda and me, but after 10 years of marriage we have decided to separate,” Aikman said in a statement. “We remain deeply committed to our children and respectfully ask that you honor our family s privacy during this period of adjustment.”
As part of the divorce settlement, Worthey received $1.75 million. The former pair have two children together, daughters Jordan and Alexa.
Mooty was also married once before to Jerry Mooty and they had two sons Luke and Val. According to Country Living, the boys’ grandmother is the sister of Jerry Jones who owns the team Aikman won three Super Bowls with.
On social media, the former football star calls his blended family #teamsix.
What Mooty does for a living
The Star-Telegram noted that when she met her hubby, Mooty worked as a Fashion Retailer and co-owns a Mobile Fashion Boutique. She founded the boutique, Luxeliner, with five of her friends including Charlotte Jones Anderson, daughter of the Cowboys owner.
Capa and Clark told DFW Style how they started their business.
“We bought a FedEx truck, lacquered it black, and filled it with our most favorite things,” they explained. “We want it to feel like you are shopping in your best friend’s closet, and we have focused on buying what we love best. We also carry fun, easy gifts, and are striving to be like a Kitson-on-Wheels.”
