Several MLB stars have called the New York Mets their team over the years, but few have the on-field presence of Pete Alonso. While the first baseman is well-known for hitting balls out of the park, fans might not know much about his personal life. While the man known as Polar Bear keeps his personal life pretty quiet, his wife, Haley Alonso, is always there to cheer him on. So, how did he meet his wife?

How did Pete Alonso meet his wife, Haley Alonso?

Baseball brought Pete Alonso and Haley Alonso together in a roundabout way. Pete and his wife were thousands of miles apart during their collegiate careers. Their paths probably wouldn’t have crossed if Pete hadn’t played in the Cape Cod League, a summer baseball league for collegiate standouts. Haley, a Boston native, was away from Michigan State University for summer break when she met Pete. From there, they began dating. But they both had to finish college.

Pete returned to Florida, and his now-wife returned to Michigan. They conducted their relationship long distance. Pete was drafted in 2016 and began a minor-league career with Haley by his side. He proposed in 2018 and moved to the Mets roster in 2019. Pete and Haley Alonso married in 2021 in a lavish ceremony in Florida.

The duo’s November wedding date coincided with the MLB’s offseason, giving the couple plenty of time to enjoy the newlywed stage. According to the New York Post, the pair jetted off to Italy and enjoyed a lengthy honeymoon, taking in the cities before returning stateside. She shared plenty of photos from the trip on Instagram.

Where do Pete and Haley Alonso live?

While there is a fair bit of talk about where Pete might end up when the 2024 season wraps up, he and his wife currently call New York home. They’ve lived close to Citi Field since Pete got his first major league start back in 2019. They called the Upper East Side home when they first moved to the city.

Haley and Pete Alonso have since moved, but it is unclear what neighborhood they currently reside in during the MLB season. They appear to spend their winters in Florida and will likely move on to a new city if the Mets don’t keep Pete on the roster for 2025. The iconic slugger, however, seems interested in remaining in New York.
