Who Will Design Princess Beatrice’s Wedding Dress?
Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York’s oldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, has made headlines for her fashion hits and misses over the years. The royal’s style choices will again be highlighted when she walks down the aisle on her wedding day and designers everywhere are hoping they are chosen to create her bridal gown.
Here’s what we know so far about Beatrice upcoming nuptials, the designers in the running to make her dress, and if she will wear the same tiara her mother, Sarah Ferguson, wore when she tied the knot.
When and where Princess Beatrice wedding will take place
After months of speculation about when and where Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi‘s wedding would take place, Buckingham Palace announced the exact date and location for the nuptials and reception.
“The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May 2020 … The queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace. The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by the queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace,” the statement read.
Most royal brides wear a gown for their wedding ceremony and then another for the reception, so Beatrice will likely wear two dresses on her special day.
Who could design Beatrice’s wedding gown
The actual dress and designer the princess decides on won’t be revealed until her big day, but royal fans have been taking bets on who they think will design it.
It’s widely believed that the princess will wear a British or Italian designer. In the past, most U.K. royal brides have picked English designers to create their gowns. Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, donned a dress by London design duo Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos for her wedding ceremony. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge stunned in Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex chose a Givenchy number by Brit Clare Waight Keller.
While Beatrice could go with a British fashion house, she may actually tap an Italian label instead to honor her fiancé’s roots. That means we could see something by a brand like Gucci or Prada.
Will Beatrice wear the same tiara Fergie did?
Another big question is: Will Ferguson’s daughter rock the York tiara the duchess wore when she married Prince Andrew? Eugenie borrowed Queen Elizabeth’s Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara that had previously been given to The Queen Mother for her wedding. Since Eugenie did not wear Fergie’s tiara there’s a good chance Beatrice will.
The other two headpieces in the running are said to be the Strathmore Rose tiara and the Oriental Circlet tiara.
We’ll just have to wait until the big day to see what Beatrice chooses.
