Why ‘90 Day Fiancé’ Fans Are Boycotting ‘The Single Life’ Season 2
90 Day Fiancé fans are some of the most dedicated fans out there, but with the latest premiere of 90 Day: The Single Life Season 2, some viewers are choosing to boycott the show. Plenty of the stars on the series and various spinoffs aren’t well-liked by fans, but none seem to be more hated than Big Ed Brown.
Who is Big Ed Brown from ’90 Day Fiancé’?
Ed Brown first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 4 when he was dating Rosemarie Vega. The California native first made waves when fans saw the age difference between him Rose, but things progressively got worse when audiences saw how he treated her. From telling her she had bad breath, asking her to shave her legs, and requesting her to take a range of STI tests, Ed came off as quite the villain.
Ed has a unique appearance due to a disorder that causes the vertebrae in his neck to fuse together called Klippel-Feil syndrome. However, the 55-year-old seems to embrace some of the jabs that come his way due to his looks. He’s recently parlayed his unusual appearance into making humorous Cameos and YouTube videos.
Why are fans refusing to watch Ed on ’90 Day: The Single Life’?
In addition to the horrible way he spoke to Rosemarie, Ed is also accused of sexual assault. On July 8, 2021, TikTok user Lorelei Clemens (@Lordakeet on TikTok) posted a video outing Ed as the man who sexually assaulted her and told viewers that TikTok took her first account down.
Even before the news of the sexual assault allegations broke, fans had already petitioned TLC to take Ed off the air. The audio of a phone call between Ed and his now-fianceé was leaked back in May. Fans were appalled to hear the way Ed spoke to Liz. Liz had offered a co-worker a ride home. This set Ed off, and in the phone call, listeners can hear him telling the former waitress that she’s “f—ed up in the head” and “f–king dumb.”
Fans are furious Big Ed is starring in ’90 Day: The Single Life’ Season 2
There are plenty of people in the franchise that audiences love to hate. However, the fact that TLC is continuing to put Ed in their series has sent fans over the edge.
One Redditor wrote, “BUT WHY DID THEY HAVE TO LEAD WITH BIG ED. WE SCREAMED AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS THAT WE DID. NOT. WANT. TO. SEE. MORE. OF HIS ABUSIVE FACE and here he is literally LEADING OFF the first episode of the season. F–k! I’m okay with all these other people we hate populating the season but I just do NOT want to see this predator talking about how he deserves love. He deserves a f–king court date and a punch in the face. Ugh.”
Another user continued in the comments, “Right! I stopped watching it too. I can’t hate-watch it bc it just makes me too annoyed and angry. If everyone stopped, then they would realize that bringing back these ppl are hurting their ratings.”
For now, it looks like Big Ed is here to stay – at least through The Single Life Season 2. As for the future, that remains to be seen. The Single Life airs exclusively on discovery+ with new episodes on Fridays.
