Why a Pregnancy for Princess Eugenie Could Put Princess Beatrice’s Life on Hold
From Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Prince William and Kate Middleton, the royals have taken the media spotlight for years with weddings, baby news, and drama. And we can’t forget about Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, either. The princesses are the daughters of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, who arguably make up the most controversial couple the royal family has even ever seen. While Ferguson and Andrew have made a huge splash in the past, their daughters manage to gracefully slide by with little to no drama attached.
Even without the dramatics, we’re all still curious about what Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice are up to. And since Princess Beatrice is getting ultra-close to her boyfriend, fans are anxiously awaiting an engagement. It turns out big news from Princess Eugenie, like a pregnancy announcement, could require her older sister to back down from flaunting her own news, however. Here’s why.
Experts think engagement is imminent for Princess Beatrice
We remember when Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank last year — and from the looks of how in love Princess Beatrice is with her boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, fans may have to prepare for another wedding. The princess and Mozzi have also started dating since the end of 2018, but their families have known each other for years. Mozzi, who’s a 34-year-old multi-millionaire, seems to be attending more and more events with Princess Beatrice by his side as well. And most recently, Express notes Mozzi even joined his royal girlfriend on a trip to Balmoral Castle to see Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal commentator and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine Ingrid Seward told Hello! that Princess Beatrice and Mozzi are definitely looking at a future together, according to Express. “They’re going to get married. I was told by a member of the family. I think a wedding as early as next spring or summer is likely,” Seward said.
Many suspect Princess Eugenie could announce a pregnancy soon as well
Aside from Princess Beatrice, fans are also expecting her younger sister to have some exciting news on the horizon. Express reminds us Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank last October, and since the arrival of baby Archie from Markle and Prince Harry, fans are looking for signs that the princess may be ready to have a child of her own.
Express reminds us that way back in January, Princess Eugenie wrote an Instagram post about how “exciting” 2019 will be — and many took that as evidence that perhaps she was referring to a future pregnancy. Not only that, but when Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie attended a Celine Dion concert this July, Princess Beatrice was drinking alcoholic beverages while Princess Eugenie seemed to stick strictly to water.
Why a pregnancy could delay Princess Beatrice’s engagement plans
Royal fans would love to see engagement for Princess Beatrice and pregnancy for Princess Eugenie, but according to royal protocol, if Princess Eugenie announces a pregnancy first, it could greatly delay Princess Beatrice from telling the world her news. According to Express, back when Princess Margaret was engaged to Antony Armstrong-Jones in 1960, the queen asked her sister to hold off on announcing the news until Prince Andrew was born. Once Prince Andrew was born on Feb. 19, 1960, Princess Margaret announced her engagement a week later.
There’s no official rule stating one sibling must wait to announce their happy news in this scenario, but it does seem to be tradition. One royal’s news shouldn’t overshadow another’s. On the other hand, if Princess Beatrice announces an engagement and Princess Eugenie also has a pregnancy announcement to make, the same rule may apply. Princess Eugenie may have to wait.
Considering how close the sisters are, we’re sure they’ll be happy for each other even if one of them has to wait to announce big news to the world. As for which will happen first, it’s anyone’s guess!
