2020, in a nutshell, was a huge mess. But one good thing that came out of it was Ariana Grande’s engagement to Dalton Gomez.

The luxury real estate agent asked for the singer’s hand in marriage at the end of December after dating for just a few months. Though many people are happy for the couple, some of Grande’s friends are a little wary about this exciting milestone. Read on below to find out why.

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s friends are ‘skeptical’ about their union

Many people are looking forward to Grande officially tying the knot with Gomez in the near future. However, not everyone is 100% onboard with the couple taking this next step in their relationship so soon.

Apparently, some of Grande and Gomez’s friends have concerns about how fast the couple is moving and think this engagement was “rushed,” even though the two are in love.

“They’re very in love right now,” a source tells Entertainment Tonight. “But friends think the engagement was somewhat rushed and are skeptical that the relationship will ultimately be short-lived.”

Though the couple’s relationship hasn’t been a cause for concern, it’s understandable why Grande’s inner circle, especially, has some hesitations about her impending union with Gomez.

Seeing as the “7 Rings” singer’s previous engagement to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson only lasted four months, it’s likely her friends are afraid her romance with Gomez will play out the same way.

While their friends are concerned, Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s families are over the moon

Even though Grande and Gomez’s friends have some reservations about their engagement, the couple’s families are “thrilled” about the two tying the knot.

After the singer announced their engagement on Instagram, her mom Joan Grande immediately took to Twitter to express her excitement over the news.

“I am so excited to welcome Dalton Gomez into our family! Ariana, I love you and Dalton so much!!!!” she wrote. “Here’s to happily ever after! YAY! xoxoxo.”

A source even told People that everyone else in Grande and Gomez’s families are delighted about the engagement, saying, “They couldn’t be happier, they’re just so excited. This is a happy time for them, both sets of parents are thrilled.”

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez are ‘happy’

Even though they’ve only been together for nine months, Grande and Gomez knew early on that they were meant to be.

Just three months into dating, Grande relocated from New York City to Los Angeles, where Gomez works, so that they could be together. It was there the two quarantined together, and after a few weeks, things between them started getting serious.

Several months later, the “Thank U, Next” hitmaker bought a house in L.A. where she continued to quarantine with her now-fiancé.

“It was getting tricky for them to see each other, so she decided to take her chance,” a source told People in December. “She purchased a house in the Hollywood Hills in June and never looked back. They are incredibly happy.”

Though the coronavirus pandemic has claimed several celebrity relationships, insiders say that Gomez and Grande are very happy being on lockdown together as they’ve kept this time largely to themselves.

“Ariana and Dalton have been spending a ton of time together since getting engaged and keeping things pretty low key and private,” a source tells Entertainment Tonight. “They’re mainly keeping to themselves and just enjoying their time together.”

From what it sounds like, Grande and Gomez are head over heels for one another, and we wish them nothing but the best moving forward!
