Why Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk Split: It Wasn’t Because of Lady Gaga
Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have officially called it quits. While rumors explaining their relationship as “on the rocks” have been circling for quite some time, we can now confirm that the two have been struggling (and the gossip factory wasn’t simply short on buzz-worthy topics).
Though romance assumptions began following Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper after their chemistry-infused Oscars performance – at that point in time – the rumors were nothing more than bogus perpetuated. However, now that Cooper and Irina Shayk have officially split, many have jumped to the conclusion that Gaga is at the center of the break-up. Truth be told, this likely couldn’t be further from the truth.
Shayk and Cooper remain equally committed to and concerned for their daughter’s happiness and stability; however, aside from their daughter, it appears that the two have grown apart in terms of lifestyle choices.
An insider revealed that Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk want different things
While a family was on both Cooper and Shayk’s checklist, it became one of the only overlapping qualities inherent to their dynamic. An insider source told Page Six, “They are miserable together” before going on to explain that Cooper “doesn’t drink and is into spirituality” while Shayk “wants to go out.”
Page Six goes on to explain that while Cooper’s “star was born, his relationship faded.” This statement is quite indicative of what might exist at the core of his and Shayk’s break-up. Cooper, as the insider revealed, has been into spirituality, and is likely seeing tunnel vision in terms of work.
Irina Shayk wants to go out and be the “people’s couple,” so to speak, while Cooper seems satisfied remaining alcohol-free and focused. Cooper is transitioning from a successful actor to an Oscar-nominated director; meaning, if he wants to keep this train on its tracks, he will have to remain steadfast in his commitment. Going out, trying to raise a child, maintaining a relationship, and catalyzing a significant career shift is quite a lot to manage at once. Thus, Cooper has likely chosen to drop the one that’s not a necessity to his happiness and growth (or so he thought): drinking and partying.
This is not to say that Shayk doesn’t have professional goals of her own, for the model just graced the cover of Vogue and continues to boast a successful professional life. It’s likely that she sees going out as maintaining balance and keeping the romance alive; whereas, Cooper may see it as a distraction. However, this is speculative based on the reports of an insider.
Both Shayk and Cooper are committed to their careers and to their daughter. However, it seems that along the way, they lost sight of their romance; they lost sight of what made their dynamic work.
An insider explained to Page Six that the couple kept trying to make things work for the sake of their daughter; however, they failed to rediscover what ignited the flame in the first place.
It seems that the conflict boils down to a misalignment of desires: Shayk wants to go out – and be the fun-loving couple they have been known to be – while Cooper, at this point in time, is happier remaining a little isolated.
