Why Isn’t ‘Enchanted’ on Disney+?
Turns out, it’s not just recently released Disney movies that aren’t on the company’s streaming platform. Even old favorites like Into the Woods and Enchanted are missing from the Disney+ streaming library. Why is that? When will other Disney movies be available on Disney+? Here’s what we know about this subscription service.
Is ‘Enchanted’ on Disney+?
We’ve been dreaming of a lot more than just true love’s kiss. Since Disney’s streaming platform premiered during November 2019, some movie titles have been noticeably missing from its library. That includes the 2007 release, Enchanted.
Enchanted starred Amy Adams as Giselle, a fairytale character who is sent into the real world by an evil stepmother. However, the film is not even listed on Disney’s platform. If there’s no “pre-existing agreement,” why is it missing? Unfortunately, we don’t exactly have an answer from the company.
Why are some Disney movies not listed on the company’s streaming platform, Disney+?
Some titles are listed with the date they will be released. However, other Disney-owned films (include Marvel, Pixar, and 21st Century Fox movies,) do not have an icon yet, which tells us that it might take a little longer for them to get to this streaming platform. That includes Enchanted, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Hypeable writes, “Apart from the second Maleficent film (which simply has not been released anywhere yet), the rest of these films are a mix of old and new movies that are not being streamed anywhere.”
“Most of the Marvel movies are on Disney+, but there are some notable absences,” the article continues. “The Spider-Man films and The Incredible Hulk are distributed under different companies, while the other four are still licensed to Netflix for the time being.” If fans want to watch Enchanted, the only options are purchasing digital or physical copies, some available on Amazon.
Disney will release some of its movies periodically on Disney+
Of course, some Disney movies that recently premiered in theaters take some time before they’re available on this streaming platform, though the company is still working out the kinks of their release schedule.
While the 2019 film, Avengers: Endgame, was available on this streaming platform at its launch date, the 2019 release Toy Story 4 took over six months to be added to this library. Spider-Man: Far From Home is still awaiting its Disney+ debut.
There are movies, released by Disney years ago, that will make their Disney+ debut later than expected. That is primarily due to “pre-existing agreements” with other streaming platforms. That includes Marvel movies like Black Panther, which debuted on Disney’s subscription service March 4, 2020.
Disney and Pixar’s Incredibles 2 is currently available for streaming on Netflix and makes the switch to Disney+ during July 2020. Some movies that will be available for streaming during 2020 include Ant-Man and the Wasp, Into the Woods, Christopher Robin, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Avengers: Infinity War. Most of these movies are currently available on Netflix.
