Why It Took Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Lauren Hashian So Long to Get Married
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently made headlines when he tied the knot with his girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, in a private ceremony in Hawaii. The couple had been quite secretive about the whole thing, so fans were shocked to hear after the wedding that The Rock had gotten married.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Lauren Hashian first met in 2006
Johnson and Hashian first met in 2006 while he was in Boston to film his movie The Game Plan. According to Wrestling Inc, the two of them came to know each other because they frequented the same restaurant. Johnson was actually married at the time, though he also ended up splitting with his then-wife in 2007.
2007 was also when Johnson and Hashian began dating. He has not shared many details about his relationship with Hashian, but The Rock did say that he has been extremely blessed in his romantic life.
“I was so fortunate to have fallen in love once,” he once shared with People. “To fall in love again? That’s a hard thing to do twice in the position I’m in. I’m one lucky son of a bitch.”

After about eight years together, Johnson and Hashian welcomed their first child, Jasmine, in 2015. Their second child, Tiana Gia, came in 2018. Johnson has another daughter from his first marriage as well: Simone Alexandra, who was born in 2001.
He has shared how much he admired Hashian’s “strength and beauty” when she gave birth to their children. After the birth of their daughter Jasmine, Johnson took to social media to say: “I was right there during labor, helping her breathe, every highly intense contraction, every second of pain, right there watching the actual birth, cutting the cord and wiping the tears… As men, it’s a miracle we should witness because it’ll give you a whole new respect for the strength and beauty of a woman.”
The Rock also seems to really enjoy being a father. In a special post for his daughter Tiana Gia, he wrote: “I’ll love, protect, guide and make ya laugh for the rest of my life. Your crazy dad has many responsibilities and wears many hats in this big ol’ world, but being your dad will always be the one I’m most proud to wear.”
Why did it take Johnson and Hashian so long to get married?
Dwayne Johnson and Lauren Hashian managed to build a great family life in the past 12 years, but the couple did not tie the knot until just recently.
The Rock explained in 2018 that they did have plans to marry before, but something got in the way. “We were going to get married in the spring and we got pregnant,” he told ET. “Lauren felt like, well, you know, mama [doesn’t want] to take pictures being pregnant in a wedding dress, so we’re just going to wait and not quite sure when, but I know it’s going to happen.”
Even at the time, he also referred to Hashian as “his wife” a lot, which made many onlookers confused. “So a lot of people are like, ‘Oh, did you get married?'” Johnson explained. “I’m like, ‘No. Easy. Don’t rush big daddy.'”
In any case, it’s clear that Johnson and Hashian simply did not see marriage as a prerequisite to start a family. The couple simply lived in a way that worked for them, though their recent wedding signifies a new beginning for their relationship.
