Why Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Got Married Without a Prenup
Turns out Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are already married after all and now fans have quite a few questions about the newlyweds.
We’re breaking down everything including when they got hitched, where they said “I do,” and why Bieber did not make his bride sign a prenuptial agreement to protect his massive fortune.
When and where they tied the knot
Bieber and Baldwin dated for a short time back in 2015 and 2016 but went their separate ways until they reunited and got engaged last July while they were vacationing together in the Bahamas. For months there were reports about when they were going to wed and if they had already done so, well turns out that they are in fact husband and wife now. On Oct. 2, 2018, several media outlets confirmed the news.
The pair was spotted at the Marriage Bureau in New York City on Sept. 13 to obtain a marriage license and tied the knot that same day right at the courthouse. Josh Mehl, who is Bieber’s close pal and attends the same Los Angeles church as the singer, was their witness.
“Justin and Hailey wanted to be married, and didn’t want to wait,” a source close to the couple revealed. They didn’t want word to get out right away though so they “kept their marriage a secret from a lot of people” and “were telling people they weren’t married when they were.”
Why Bieber didn’t seek a prenup
According to TMZ, the pop star and model were married without a prenup but did initially contact their attorneys about getting one. However, since they insisted on getting married the same day they spoke to their lawyers there wasn’t enough time to have one drawn up.
Many believe that they might opt to get a postnup, which is the exact same thing just drafted after both parties say “I do.” At this time though there is no talk of that and sources have said that Bieber doesn’t really see the need for one because he is head over heels for his lady.
The fashion model is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and has a net worth of $2 million. Of course, Bieber is the one with a much greater fortune as the “Sorry” artist’s total net worth is a whopping $265 million.
They will have another wedding
Multiple sources told ET that Bieber and Baldwin are going to have another wedding ceremony.
“They still plan to have a more formal wedding, but for them this intimate ceremony was exactly what they wanted,” one insider said.
Another agreed but explained that there are no plans in place yet about when that would be adding, “Justin and Hailey are still planning to have a wedding or celebration with their closest friends and family. However, Justin is very spontaneous. [He] keeps Hailey and everyone on their toes.”
