Why Katy Perry Asked Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift for Locks of Their Hair
The world is waiting with bated breath for the birth of Katy Perry’s first baby. She’s currently pregnant with Orlando Bloom’s child, and based on how outrageous Perry is, fans expect some crazy baby stuff to go down. This is the woman who dressed up as a hamburger for the Met Gala.
The baby outfits at least will be outrageous. While Perry is anything but a traditional person, there’s one age-old custom Perry probably will take part in. A lot of moms save locks of their baby’s hair, and Perry will probably do the same. Perry collects hair from other people now, so why not from her child?
Katy Perry asked Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift for a lock of hair
Everyone has one weird habit, but Perry’s is definitely out there. She asked fellow pop stars Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift for locks of their hair. Yes, locks of their hair.
Apparently, they complied, which means they weren’t scared of voodoo or witchcraft on Perry’s part. Or maybe they just weren’t sure how to refuse.
According to Perry: “One of the first times I went to the Grammys, I got to share a dressing room with Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, and I asked them for a lock of their hair from each one of them, which is totally creepy, but awesome.” Most people would just ask for an autograph, but Perry is not most people.
There are probably people on the internet who would pay big money for hair from either of these two women, so maybe this was a kind of investment scheme for Perry? Either way, Swift may have been concerned about what Perry is doing with her hair during their infamous feud.
Katy Perry and Taylor Swift had a public feud
After Perry got a lock of Swift’s hair, the two appeared to be close friends. They performed together, and posted on each other’s social media pages.
Everything was hunky-dory, despite the fact that Perry gave herself such a weird introduction. Not many friendships start with one party asking the other for a lock of hair, but it worked for the “Hot N’ Cold” singer. Until things started to go south around 2013.
First, Swift and singer John Mayer had a quasi-relationship. They were spotted together, and Swift apparently referenced Mayer in one of her songs, but the relationship was never confirmed. After Mayer and Swift ended things, Perry started posting pics on Instagram of herself and Mayer.
Neither Perry nor Swift have said that the incident began their feud, but in 2014 Perry tried to hire dancers who were on tour with Swift. Even though the dancers had worked for Perry in the past, Swift saw the attempt to take them off of her tour as an act of war.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have buried the hatchet
Swift made her feelings towards Perry clear. She said she and another pop star were “straight up enemies” in an interview with Rolling Stone. Swift didn’t call Perry out by name, but it was obvious who she was talking about. They would feud for three years. Perry claimed that Swift started the feud, and would have to end it. She even supposedly wrote a song about Swift, “Swish.”
By 2017, Katy was ready to end the beef. She sent Swift an actual olive branch, a symbol of peace. Swift posted on social media about the gift, and a year later the two apparently baked cookies together in Swift’s kitchen. If Perry was trying to do any kind of dark magic with Swift’s hair during their feud, it didn’t work. Those were some of the most successful years of Swift’s career thus far.
