Why Kerry Washington’s Husband Doesn’t Plan To Star in a Movie With Her
Kerry Washington keeps her marriage to Nnamdi Asomugha separate from their public acting lives. That still doesn’t keep fans from wanting to know more, especially in terms of if the duo has any plans of sharing the screen together. Asomugha says the likelihood of him starring alongside his wife in a project is slim.
Nnamdi Asomugha and Kerry Washington maintain a private relationship
The Scandal star and Asomugha met in 2010 when Washington was performing Race on Broadway. Sparks flew and the pair began dating. They married in Idaho in 2013 in a private ceremony in June 2013. Together, they raise three children, two of whom are of the couples – one is a daughter from Asomugha’s previous relationship.

Early on in their marriage, Washington spoke on why she chooses to keep their marital details out of the spotlight. “I have girlfriends in this business who talk about their personal lives, and it works for them, and I love it. But not for me. I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me to talk about my personal life,” she told Glamour Magazine in 2013.
That hasn’t stopped Washington from dotting on Asomugha. She’s stated that she’ll do Broadway again because of meeting her husband during one of her show runs. Washington has also gushed about Asomugha during a 2014 NAACP Image Award acceptance speech, telling Asomugha, “Thank you to my husband, I thank God for you.”
Nnamdi Asomugha is an NFL player turned actor
Asomugha was a first-round draft pick in the 2003 NFL draft for the Oakland Raiders. He played for a total of 11 years, including for the Philadelphia Eagles, and the San Francisco 49ers. Asomugha is considered to be one of the greatest Oakland Raiders of all time.
His acting debut came with a guest role on the CW sitcom The Game. In 2012, he made his on-screen film debut in Fire with Fire alongside Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, and Josh Duhamel. Asomugha also co-wrote, produced, and starred in the dramatic short film, Double Negative, which chronicled 48 hours in the life of a struggling Muslim American writer.

Critical acclaim came for Asomugha for his portrayal of Carl King in the 2017 film Crown Heights. He was nominated for several awards, including an NAACP Image Award, and named a breakout start by Variety.
Asomugha has said that he never saw himself as an actor before his transition but his interest was sparked when he completed a commercial during his NFL playing career.

As Asomugha’s acting career continues to flourish, many wonder whether or not he plans on starring alongside his superstar wife in a television or film project. Unfortunately, Asomugha doesn’t see the likelihood.
He worked as a producer on American Son, which Washington starred in. but Asomugha says that’s the extent of the collaboration he and Washington will probably do.
“I produced “American Son,” but as actors, there’s no plan as of now for that collaboration,” he said in a recent interview with The New York Times. “We’re very supportive of each other’s journeys, but we’ve always been that way. We always want the best for each other in whatever we’re doing. And so it’s not in the detail of specific things; It’s just an overall appreciation for the hard work.”
