Why Khloé Kardashian Had to Hide Her Hair Color to Fit In
Khloé Kardashian is often criticized for how “different” she looks in comparison to her other siblings. Over the years, critics have latched onto everything from her height to her shape to her facial features. And while Kardashian generally tries not to let the hate get to her, sometimes it does.
Things once got so bad that the Good American co-founder even changed her hair color so that she could look more like her sisters.
Wait, what is Khloé Kardashian’s natural hair color?
Kardashian is a natural dirty blonde. In fact, it appears that she’s the only one in her immediate family. (Both of her parents and all five of her siblings are brunettes.)
The reality star, 35, opened up about her natural locks and how she dyed them to blend in in NewBeauty Magazine’s Winter-Spring 2016 Issue.
“I am naturally dirty blonde, and I always was light and then went dark before we started filming, and I was kind of identified with always being dark like my sisters were,” she told the outlet (via The Huffington Post).
Kardashian later underwent a body transformation, and also decided to switch up her hair color. She swapped out her signature brown locks for a lighter blond.
“It was more out of laziness but I liked it and stuck with the ombré theme,” she said of the change. “When I started losing weight and started feeling better about myself, I was more willing to try different things, and I was ready to make a change and stand out more.”
But she noted that it might not be a permanent thing.
“While I think I could go back dark in some way, I feel like before, I was very much trying to fit this cookie cutter mold, and now I don’t,” Kardashian continued. “I had to stand up for myself and say it doesn’t matter if I look like them or not, this is me.”
Kardashian just returned to brown hair
In October, Kardashian ditched the blond to help her sister, Kim Kardashian West, promote a new perfume collection.
On Oct. 29, Kim announced that she had collaborated with her sisters for a new KKW Fragrance line called Diamonds Collection. In the accompanying photos, Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian all have dark hair.
Kardashian definitely seemed excited about it. She shared several photos on her Instagram and said, “Creating the KKW Fragrance Diamonds Collection with Kim and Kourtney was so inspiring. I wanted to create a fragrance that feels feminine, sexy, and strong when I wear it.”
But it seems like it was only a temporary change. In various posts shared to her Instagram Story on Oct. 30 (viewed by Showbiz CheatSheet), Kardashian’s hair seemingly features blond highlights.
Oh well. If she likes it, we love it. But still, stay tuned to see whether she switches things up again.
