It has only been a few weeks since Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry announced their resignation as senior members of the royal family. But, for many, it feels like a lifetime.
The couple is lying low in Canada, away from the media’s harsh glare, but the tabloids haven’t stopped talking ever since the big January 8th announcement. One hot topic of speculation is the effect that Meghan and Prince Harry’s resignation is having on the remaining members of the royal family.
Recent reports indicate Meghan has more or less stopped communicating with several members of the royal family. This includes her sister-in-law, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

On January 8th, Prince Harry and Meghan posted on their Instagram page that they intended to step down as senior members of the royal family and that they wanted to start making their own income, independent of royal restrictions. Among other things, their announcement revealed that the couple wants to divide their time up between the United Kingdom and the United States, with the freedom to go where they choose.
Meghan and Prince Harry also made mention of a brand-new charity that they intend to launch in the coming months. Needless to say, the announcement was big news all over the world, but especially in the United Kingdom.
There’s also the matter of timing. The couple chose to post their announcement the day before Kate’s 38th birthday. While there was no word on how the Duchess of Cambridge felt about it, due to the timing of it all, the future queen consort’s big day was completely overshadowed.

In light of the timing of their announcement, combined with the couple’s very busy schedule in recent weeks, it seems reasonable to assume that they haven’t spent much time with the royal family. Still, a recent report indicates that there could be some bad blood brewing between Meghan and Kate.
Cosmopolitan reports Meghan and Kate haven’t spoken at all since the big royal split announcement on January 8th. While the sisters-in-law were never said to be terribly close, in recent months, they were seen together more, even sharing a playdate with their children while at a polo match.
Whether or not the lack of communication stems from a busy schedule or something more is not known. If there is tension between the two, it is likely to be unresolved for some time, considering that Meghan is currently in Canada, lying low with baby Archie Harrison. Meanwhile, Kate is still hard at work with her royal duties in the U.K.

Regardless of how things are going down within the ranks of the royal family, Meghan is living her absolute best life. According to sources, the Duchess of Sussex finally “feels free” now that they have taken a big step away from royal life and the many restrictions of the palace.
Meghan was recently spotted in Canada, taking a low-key walk with Archie and her dogs, looking happier than she has in months. There will undoubtedly be trying times ahead for both Meghan and Prince Harry.
But, for now, she certainly seems happy with the way everything has gone down. If she ever chooses to speak out about the big exit announcement, royal fans might be able to learn more about the reason for the abrupt timing. In the meantime, many will be left to wait and wonder.
