Meghan McCain Reminds Everyone Why She’s on ‘The View’ and Fans Drag Her
Meghan McCain is one of five co-hosts currently on The View. The conservative star is passionate about politics and what she believes in. It’s the latter that makes the “Hot Topics” table sizzle with heated debates with the rest of the cast. McCain is not afraid to stand up for her political inclinations and has the facts to back up what she says.
McCain doesn’t always say what’s popular and that makes her a target for people that oppose her opinions. As the presidential election cycle gets more fierce, McCain has been extra loud with her opposition to certain Democratic candidates. The Republican has been especially critical against Michael Bloomberg and Bernie Sanders.
On the ABC talk show, McCain has complained at how aggressive Sanders’ constituents have been towards her. After receiving flack from followers, McCain shut them down with an epic tweet. McCain made sure to remind everyone what she gets paid to do on TV.
“It’s called The View… I am paid to give another view,” McCain tweeted. “If you’re deeply triggered by a diversity of opinions and want to watch a show where everyone just sits around agreeing with one another on everything, feel free to find a show called The Same.”
Fans lash out against Meghan McCain
When fans read McCain’s tweet, they got triggered and proceeded to a digital drag.
“Your view lacks education, information, and truth,” a fan tweeted.
“Yes, and we are called ‘The Audience,’ and as the audience, we are allowed to let you know when your opinions sound ignorant, misinformed, or just plain crazy,” a viewer commented.
“Your views are crap though and you only have your seat because of your father,” a Twitter user replied.
“It’s always ironic when one of the most triggered people in the world uses the word triggered,” another fan added.
“Maybe your view is just bad and you don’t belong on television. The only reason you are there is because of your family’s privilege,” another viewer said.
“Nicolle Wallace, who used to be on The View, was a Republican and held differing views. I don’t remember her having daily tantrums. I don’t know if I’ve even seen her get nasty when sharing her conservative views. Maybe it’s just you?” another Twitter user posted.
Meghan McCain addresses feud with Whoopi Goldberg
McCain is not afraid to stand up to Whoopi Goldberg, the show’s moderator. Late in December 2019, they both starred in a heated moment where Goldberg told her to “stop talking.”
When the political analyst made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she addressed the altercation.
“It was rough,” McCain told host Andy Cohen of the heated moment. “I will say that she was having a bad day and we talked about it that night and the next day. It’s live TV and it’s really stressful times for everyone. I adore her. She apologized off-air, she apologized on-air. We all f***-up on the show. I forgive her and I love her and I could not do the show… if she leaves, I go.”
McCain said that if Goldberg ever leaves The View, she would leave with her.
“Whoopi is the anchor of the show and my life there,” McCain added. “She always picks us up when we’re down. If she jumps, I jump. Whoopi is… I adore her and I need her as the moderator.”
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT/PT.
